A bus bar assembly for a power distribution unit or other piece of electrical equipment includes a stack of bus bars configured to be attached to a surface and insulated from one another. The bus bars have aligned longitudinal centerlines and respective widths that decrease along a direction perpendicular to the surface to provide a stepped profile in cross-section. In some embodiments, the bus bars may have substantially the same cross-sectional area.

An apparatus (e.g., an inductor system) includes an elongate magnetic core, at least one coil wrapped around the magnetic core and a spacer configured to separate an inner side of the at least one coil from the magnetic core to provide a coolant passage between the inner side of the at least one coil and the magnetic core. The apparatus further includes at least one flux concentrator body positioned on an outer side of the at least one coil and configured to concentrate a magnetic flux on the outer side of the at least one coil. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a frame configured to support the magnetic core, the at least one coil and the at least one flux concentrator body. In further embodiments, the at least one flux concentrator body may be mounted on at least one wall of an enclosure or chassis.

Power module connection assemblies include a longitudinally extending channel member and cam member. The longitudinally extending channel member includes a first end of a connector member in a sidewall thereof having a face exposed to an interior channel of the channel member. The connector member has an electrical connection section on a second end of the connector member, the second end being displaced from the first end. The longitudinally extending cam member is configured to be positioned in the channel of the channel member. The cam member is rotatably movable within the channel from a first position, wherein a mating connector bar may be received in the channel of the channel member proximate the first end of the connector member, to a second position to press the mating connector bar and the first end of the connector member together.

Power module connection assemblies and universal power supplies and methods including the same

An inductor includes an elongate magnetic core, a coil wrapped around the core and a spacer that separates the coil from the core to provide a coolant passage between the coil and the core. The coolant passage may include an air passage that extends substantially parallel to an axis of the core and that has first and second openings proximate respective first and second ends of the core. The coil may include a twisted bundle of individually insulated conductors. The inductor may be housed in a flux-tolerant compartment, i.e., a conductive aluminum structure that supports eddy currents with relatively acceptable resistive losses.

Hybrid air/magnetic core inductor

An integrated power module includes a longitudinally extending mounting member defining a cooling passageway on a first side thereof. A heat sink is positioned in the cooling passageway. A printed circuit board is positioned proximate a second side of the mounting member opposite the first side. A heat generating power circuit is electrically coupled to the printed circuit board and positioned between the printed circuit board and the mounting member. The power circuit is thermally coupled to the heat sink. An inductor is mounted in the cooling passageway. Methods of forming an integrated power module are also provided.
