A reservoir fluid can be produced from a subterranean formation. The reservoir fluid can include water and hydrocarbons such as oil. It is oftentimes desirable to limit the amount of water that is produced, so a higher ratio of hydrocarbons can be produced. Portions of the subterranean formation can have an initial permeability to water. A relative permeability modifier (RPM) package including a surfactant and a polymer can be used in these portions to restrict or prevent water from being produced. The relative permeability modifier package can increase the hydrophobicity of the portion that allows the hydrocarbons to flow through while substantially limiting the amount of water. The relative permeability modifier can coat the surfaces of substances in the formation whereby the permeability to an aqueous fluid is reduced from the initial permeability. The formation can be a high-temperature formation of 230° F. (110.0° C.) or greater.

Friction reducers can be included in a liquid concentrate for use in treatment fluids in oil and gas operations. The liquid concentrate can be a slurry and include oil or a brine as the continuous phase and the friction reducer in dry form as the dispersed phase. The liquid concentrate can be an invert emulsion and include oil as the continuous phase and water and friction reducer dissolved in the water as the dispersed phase. A suspending agent can be included in the liquid concentrate to distribute and suspend the friction reducer throughout the continuous phase. The suspending agent can form micelles that form a mesh-like network to distribute and suspend the friction reducer. A portion of the liquid concentrate can be added to a base fluid at the wellsite to form the treatment fluid. The treatment fluid can be a fracturing fluid.

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for subterranean zonal isolation, and more particularly to systems and methods of plugging a permeable zone in a wellbore using an elastic sealant composition comprising a cross-linkable polymer, a cross-linking agent, and an elasticity modifier, wherein the elasticity modifier comprises at least one elasticity modifier selected from the group consisting of organophilically-modified clay and/or latex. The elastic sealant compositions may be used for downhole and pipeline applications. For instance, the elastic sealant compositions may be placed into annular space or on top of a packer to seal off fluid flow from water and/or gas zone downhole. The elastic sealant compositions may also be used for pipelines where they may be able to withstand the potential change in diameter without breaking apart. The elastic sealant compositions may be used as pigs for pipelines, for example.

Elastic conformance gels

The present disclosure is directed to an aqueous gellable composition that includes water; 10 to 45 composition wt. % of a crosslinkable water-soluble polymer including at least one functional group selected from the group of carboxylic acid and carboxylic acid derivative; 1 to 10 composition wt. % of an organic or inorganic crosslinking agent for the crosslinkable water-soluble polymer; 10 to 40 composition wt. % of a polyurethane polymer; and 0.1 to 5 composition wt. % of a natural polymer. The organic crosslinking agent includes at least one compound from the group of: polyalkyleneimines, polyalkylene polyamines, phenolic compounds combined with formaldehyde, and hydroquinone combined with hexamethylenetetramine. Also, the inorganic crosslinking agent includes at least one metal compound M, wherein M is from the group of: aluminum(III), chromium(III), iron(III), zirconium(III), and any mixture thereof.

Aqueous gellable composition and pipeline pigs obtained therefrom

Provided are wellbore treatment fluids and methods to introduce these treatment fluids in a subterranean formation. The treatment fluids include a diverter material and an aqueous carrier fluid. Further, the diverter material comprises a composite material of a polyvinyl alcohol and a plasticizer. The diverter material includes particles having a particle size distribution of about 2 to about 10 U.S. mesh and an aspect ratio of 20:1 or less. The treatment fluid is introduced into a permeable zone of a subterranean formation, wherein the permeable zone is part of a wellbore that is permeated or penetrated by fractures and fissures. The diverter material diverts at least partially the treatment fluid to a different portion of the subterranean formation.

Plasticized polyvinyl alcohol diverter materials

Methods and compositions for performing a sealing operation in a wellbore. An example method introduces a sealant composition into the wellbore while the sealant composition is under shear. The sealant composition comprises a thixotropic material, a conformance gel system, and an aqueous base fluid. The sealant composition is placed into a target location, and applied shear is reduced to the sealant composition when in the target location thereby allowing the sealant composition to thicken in the target location. Fluid flow across the target location is reduced by a fluid seal formed by the thickened sealant composition.

Method for wellbore sealing

Methods and compositions for treating subterranean formations with fluids containing superabsorbent polymer particles are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise introducing a treatment fluid into a well bore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation, the treatment fluid including an aqueous base fluid, and one or more superabsorbent polymer particles comprising a plurality of monomers and one or more crosslinkers wherein at least one crosslinker is a labile crosslinker.

Accordingly, this disclosure describes systems, compositions, and methods that may use pelletized diverting agent particulates for diversion, fluid loss control, and/or other subterranean treatments for controlling fluid flow in subterranean formations. In an embodiment, a method comprising: introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation wherein the treatment fluid comprises: a base fluid; a pelletized diverting agent comprising a degradable polymer, wherein the pelletized diverting agent at least partially plugs a zone in the subterranean formation; and diverting at least a portion of the treatment fluid and/or a subsequently introduced fluid away from the zone. In an embodiment, a treatment fluid comprising: a base fluid; and a pelletized diverting agent comprising a degradable polymer.

A method of stimulating a subterranean carbonate formation includes delivering a composition comprising a hydrophobically modified polymer, a phosphorylated alkyl amino polycarboxylic acid, and a base treatment acid into the subterranean formation; and contacting the subterranean carbonate formation with the composition to form conductive flowpaths in the subterranean carbonate formation. The method may further include producing hydrocarbons from the subterranean carbonate formation. A composition for stimulating a subterranean formation includes a hydrophobically modified polymer; a phosphorylated alkyl amino polycarboxylic acid; and a base treatment acid.

A workflow for fracturing a subterranean formation includes providing fracturing databases or models for the hydrocarbon wellbore, selecting one or more fracturing fluid systems for fracturing the subterranean formation based on the fracturing databases or models and recommending at least one of the one or more selected fracturing fluid systems for fracturing the subterranean formation. Additionally, a workflow controller for fracturing a subterranean formation includes a workflow processing unit having fracturing models or databases to determine functional aspects of one or more fracturing fluid systems to provide a fracturing fluid system recommendation for the subterranean formation, and a fracturing fluid delivery unit that applies the fracturing fluid system recommendation to the subterranean formation. A hydrocarbon wellbore fracturing system for a subterranean formation is also provided.

System and method for selecting fluid systems for hydraulic fracturing

A variety of methods, compositions, and systems are disclosed, including, a method comprising: introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation wherein the treatment fluid comprises: a base fluid; and multi-grade diverting particulates, wherein the multi-grade diverting particulates comprise a degradable polymer, wherein the degradable polymer comprises a first portion of the degradable polymer and a second portion of the degradable polymer of different grades, wherein the multi-grade diverting particulate at least partially plugs a zone in the subterranean formation; and diverting at least a portion of the treatment fluid and/or a subsequently introduced fluid away from the zone.
