An apparatus for sensing a parting in any of the strands of sliver fed from a creel to the drafting rolls of a high speed textile draw frame to stop the drawing process in response to a sliver parting. A plurality of sliver guides are mounted on an elongate arm which is compact and readily mounted on the creel. The sliver guides are U-shaped with inturned upper end portions defining a restricted opening at the top portion and a capacitive sensing switch positioned in the bight portion thereof. The sliver guides also include a low coefficient of friction coating to reduce the accumulation of lint. Cylindrical post separators are positioned alongside the path of the slivers to maintain separation and prevent entangling of adjacent slivers. Logic and control electronics are contained within a housing carried by the elongate arm.

Electronic stop motion for textile draw frame

A balanced, doubly tuned gate couples between the mixer and intermediate frequency (IF) stages of a conventional radio receiver. The network is comprised of a pair of matched transformers interconnected in a balanced configuration, with the first transformer tuned to the mixer and the remaining transformer tuned to the IF stage. Capacitors interconnect the two transformers resulting in a Butterworth filter network. Two diode pairs connect in shunt across selected windings of the transformers. Direct current bias normally biases the diodes to a nonconducting state, thereby allowing the mixer signals to pass to the IF stage. A blanking signal from the receiver blanker drives the diodes to conduction thereby decoupling the mixer from the IF and blanking the receiver. Due to the doubly balanced nature of the gate, blanking is accomplished with a minimum of switching time. Moreover, the shunt diode switching scheme provides superior attenuation in the blanking mode and enhanced operation in the normal mode.

Radio receiver blanker gate

A radio receiver includes a blanker circuit for muting the receiver in response to interfering noise signals. The invention contemplates a transistor switch which, when biased to its nonconducting state, inhibits blanker action. The transistor is biased to nonconduction when the receiver provided automatic gain control (AGC) level is below the threshold voltage of the transistor. An adjustment is provided for controlling the AGC level at which blanker inhibit is introduced. Temperature compensating circuitry maintains inhibit action response at the threshold voltage with changes in ambient temperature.
