A kitchen appliance for preparing beverage comprises a housing, a basket holder in cooperative engagement with the housing, a filter basket selectively insertable into the basket holder when the basket holder is in an open position, and a ground coffee hopper for holding ground coffee. The hopper is positioned to dispense a desired amount of ground coffee into the filter basket when (i) the hopper is selectively mounted to the housing, (ii) the filter basket is inserted into the basket holder, and (iii) the basket holder is in its closed position. The bottom portion comprises a selectively rotatable doser defining a plurality of dosing cavities. Each dosing cavity is adapted to contain a same, predetermined amount of ground coffee and adapted to dispense the contained ground coffee through a dispensing hole defined in the bottom portion as each dosing cavity is rotated into a position above the dispensing hole.

Kitchen appliance for preparing a beverage and method of operating same

A kitchen appliance includes a first reservoir for receiving a liquid to be used for preparing a beverage. A hot water generator ('HWG') has an inlet end, an outlet end and a passageway extending therebetween. The inlet end of the HWG is connected to the first reservoir. Liquid from the first reservoir flows into the HWG through the inlet end. A selector valve is connected to the outlet end of the HWG. At least a portion of the selector valve is movable by a user between a first valve position and a second valve position.

A kitchen appliance includes a first reservoir for receiving a liquid to be used for preparing a beverage. A hot water generator ('HWG') has an inlet end, an outlet end and a passageway extending therebetween. The inlet end of the HWG is connected to the first reservoir. Liquid from the first reservoir flows into the HWG through the inlet end. A second reservoir is connected to the outlet end of the HWG. The second reservoir includes a discharge port, a gas vent and a skirt extending from a wall of the second reservoir further than the gas vent. The skirt at least partially surrounds the gas vent. At least a portion of the skirt is spaced laterally inwardly from an outer sidewall of the second reservoir.

The invention relates to an interlock assembly for a spindle mixer where the interlock assembly includes a cup guide, an actuator pin, and an interlock mechanism. Placing a cup within the cup guide actuates the actuator pin that, in turn, engages the interlock mechanism. Engagement of the interlock mechanism selectively activates an electric motor. The pin moves through thebody ofthe guide. The guide can be selectively removed from the mixer, and the pin, in one embodiment, is selectively removed from the guide. An optional bypass switch can be included to allow for the direct engagement of the motor.
