A slotted file is created by connecting two side walls and a back wall. The side walls have etched grooves facing directly across from each other. The platelet has flanges that fit into the grooves. In one embodiment, a completed cube is formed when the platelets fill the slotted file.

The Ceramic frames and capsules for Z-axis modules shown herein are formed by placing chips 10 into a ceramic frame 12, breaking apart the frame 12 into sub-frames 26, and bonding the sub-frames 26 into a module 30. The sub-frames 26 may be separated by ceramic sub-backings 28. Each sub-frame 26 and sub-backing 28 forms a capsule 22.

An acousto-electric convolver having a relatively long effective interaction region for counter-propagating surface acoustic waves and, therefore, a relatively large time-bandwith product implemented by distributing a coupler, such as a multistrip coupler or an array of interdigital transducer taps, over a plurality of parallel-connected single-channel acousto-electric convolvers.

Monolithic acoustoelectric signal storage device and means for generating a surface acoustic wave on piezoelectric material and propagating the wave into a storage region of the device. An electric field applied across a storage structure in the storage region of the device interacts with the electric field associated with the surface acoustic wave to produce a holographic replica of the wave in a spatially varying distribution of charge trapped at a solid dielectric-dielectric interface. The stored waveform may then be read out at a later time or, in nonlinear signal processing applications, the electric field of a subsequently generated surface acoustic wave may be propagated into the storage region to interact with the trapped charge to produce an output signal.

Monolithic surface acoustic wave signal storage device

Monolithic acoustoelectric imager using a multistrip coupled convolver. The multistrip coupler of the convolver senses the electric fields associated with counter-propagating surface acoustic waves on a piezoelectric film. The interaction product of the sensed electric fields scans a screen including one or more strips of radiation-sensitive semiconductor material and the convolver output is modulated by the varying intensity of illumination from an image projected onto the screen.
