The printing system includes at least one physical memory device to store halftone calibration logic and one or more processors coupled with the at least one physical memory device to execute the halftone calibration logic determine an uncalibrated deposition distribution for each of a plurality of pel forming elements, determine a calibrated deposition distribution for each of the plurality of pel forming elements and determine calibration values for each of the plurality of pel forming elements.

One embodiment is a measurement system that includes rollers which receive a web of print media marked with a printed job, a controller which determines that a segment of the web is stationary at the measurement system, an image measurement device that inspects the printed job, and a repositioning mechanism that repositions the segment within the measurement system relative to the image measurement device while portions of the web external to the measurement system remain stationary.

System and method for printer intrusion detection. One embodiment is a system that includes memory configured to store personnel identification data for a plurality of operator classes permitted to perform different levels of maintenance actions on a printer. The system also includes an intrusion detection controller configured to detect a presence of a person in an operating space of the printer based on image data, to analyze the image data to detect one or more characteristics of the person, to determine an operator class for the person based on a match of the detected characteristics of the person with the personnel identification data stored in the memory, and to monitor adherence to maintenance permissions by the person in a plurality of physical areas of the printer based on the operator class of the person.

Printer intrusion detection

Systems and methods are provided for image scaling with enhanced compression. One embodiment is a processor that receives an instruction to scale an input image to create an output image that is higher in resolution, and analyzes rows of the input image in sections according to a run length of a predetermined number of consecutive pels. For each run length of consecutive pels, the processor determines a cluster of adjacent pels within the run length having a color intensity value within a threshold range, and determines a replacement intensity value for the cluster based on at least one color intensity value of a pel in the cluster. The processor creates the output image by: upscaling the cluster by the scale factor to multiply a number of pels in the cluster, and changing an intensity value of all pels in the cluster to the replacement intensity value.

Image scaling with enhanced compression

A printing system is disclosed. The printing system includes a printer to print image data to a medium. The printer includes a first pass channel including a first set of pel forming elements to print a first component of the image data and a second pass channel including a second set of pel forming elements to print a second component of the image data, wherein the first component of the image data and the second component of the image data occupy a same region on the print medium. The printing system also includes a print controller to perform uniformity compensation based on a combined compensation of the first pass channel and the second pass channel.

System and method for enhanced printer and printer operator interactions. One embodiment includes a maintenance controller in communication with a camera having a field of view overlapping with a field of view of a human operator, and in communication with a display to display images for the human operator. The maintenance controller obtains a first image of the printer components, analyzes the first image to determine locations of the printer components in the first image based on the image data of the printer components stored in the memory, and modifies the first image to include highlighted areas corresponding with the locations of the printer components. The maintenance controller receives an instruction from the human operator indicating one of the highlighted areas as a selected printer component, retrieves the maintenance information of the selected printer component from memory, and sends the maintenance information to the display.

Systems and methods are provided for image scaling with efficient pixel resolution conversion. One embodiment is an image scaling system that includes a processor that receives an instruction to scale an input image having a first resolution by a scaling ratio to create an output image having a second resolution, and determines a rational fraction approximation of the scaling ratio to obtain a numerator integer representing a first block of consecutive pixels in the output image and a denominator integer representing a second block of consecutive pixels in the input image. The processor also calculates pixel values of the first block of pixels by: bit shifting pixel values of the second block of pixels, obtaining a sum of bit shifting operations of neighboring pixel values of the second block of pixels, and correcting the sum with a correction value to compensate for rounding errors in the bit shifting.

A printing system is disclosed. The printing system includes a color management unit including one or more color caches to store input colors and corresponding output colors and a color engine (CE) to receive the input colors and perform Force-X transformations to map an input color into an output color based on a pre-defined color parameter.

Mechanism to perform force color parameter transformations

Embodiments described herein utilize a color transform that maps input colors in print jobs to output colors of a printing system. The color transform defines colorant limits that vary based on where the input colors are represented within a color space. When a print job is processed using the color transform to generate rasterized image data, input colors in the print job are converted into output colors of the printing system where a colorant amount for printing each of the output colors is within the colorant limit defined by where its respective input color is represented in the color space.

Systems and methods are provided for printhead waveform adjustment. One embodiment is a system that includes a controller that correlates a series of printhead waveforms input to a printhead with a series of optical density values output by the printhead. The controller determines a single target optical density for the printheads based on an average optical density of the printheads. Also, for each of the printheads, the controller determines a functional relationship between the parameter of the printhead waveforms input to the printhead and the optical density values output by the printhead, and determines a target printhead waveform parameter for the printhead based on the single target optical density input to an inverse of the functional relationship. The controller updates printhead settings to include information of the target printhead waveform parameter determined for each of the printheads for applying to the printheads to output ink at consistent optical density.
