A control system for a drying system of the type including a drying bin. Discharge particulate material moisture sensing means including a sensor assembly positioned in a discharge auger for sensing the moisture content of the particulate material. Control means is connected to the discharge particulate moisture sensing means and the discharge auger for controlling operation of the discharge auger.

Grain dryer control system and method using moisture sensor

A system and method of monitoring the moisture of grain as it is being harvested by a combine. The moisture of the grain is continuously measured as the grain is traveling through a clean grain auger of the combine. These moisture measurements are displayed to the combine operator in the cab of the combine. A multiprocessor is provided to sample and store the moisture measurements. The multiprocessor also averages the stored measurements so that the operator can obtain the average moisture content of grain harvested from operator-defined areas of a field.

Apparatus for controlling delivery of power to a grain stirring apparatus is disclosed. A bridge frame (21) is supported between a shaft (34) and a circular track (24) on the wall (11) of bin (10). Frame (21) supports a trolley mechanism (45) having a rotating auger (47) operatively attached thereto. Frame (21) moves orbitally around bin (10) as trolley (45) moves radially inward and outward thereby allowing auger (47) to stir grain (12). The apparatus for controlling power delivery has a switch (151) which senses orbital movement using roller (191) to follow cam (190) fastened to shaft (34). If orbital movement is not appropriately sensed, timer (117) causes relays (119) and (133) to open thereby powering off grain stirring apparatus (20).

Apparatus for controlling power delivery to a grain stirring device

A control system for a grain drying bin includes a pre-dry sensor mounted on the inside of a grain drying bin a short distance above the floor and a thermocouple grain temperature sensor mounted in the discharge tube of the grain drying bin. The discharge grain temperature sensor includes a thermal contact member made of copper or other heat conductive material having a thermocouple bonded thereto to intimate heat conducting relationship. The thermal contact member is mounted by a mounting block to the discharge tube to extend through a slot into the interior of the tube and is shaped to allow the grain to flow around it in thermal contact therewith. A gap is provided in the fighting of the discharge auger in order to provide clearance for the thermal contact member. The control system prevents discharge of grain until the pre-dry temperature is attained, and controls stopping of the grain discharge, in either a sample mode or a discharge mode, if the discharged grain is too cool.
