A method of utilizing a mobile climate control assembly to selectively generate air flow across an angular range and at various velocities that includes providing first and second fan blower wheel assemblies each retained in a housing, having a wheel blade member operably coupled to a motor and operably configured to rotate 360° around an axis of rotation, and having an air deflector wall surrounding a partial circumference of the wheel member to direct generated air outwardly from the housing and electronically controlling the motor(s) to independently rotate the wheel members to generate an ambient air velocity gradient along at least an approximate 90° angular traverse path outwardly from the at least one housing without rotating the housing or the air deflector wall of each of the first and second fan blower-wheel assemblies.

Mobile climate control assembly and method of use

A mobile climate control assembly that includes a portable housing with a first fan blower-wheel assembly and a second fan blower assembly each respectively having a wheel blade member, partially surrounded by an air deflector wall, disposed within a housing cavity and operably configured to rotate 360&#xb0; around an axis of rotation parallel and non-co-planar with respect to one another. The assembly also includes a fan motor operably coupled to the wheel blade members and an electronic controller electronically and communicatively coupled to the fan motor and operably configured to independently and selectively control rotation of the wheel member of each of the first and second fan blower-wheel assemblies to generate an ambient air velocity gradient along at least an approximate 90&#xb0; angular traverse path from the front face and without rotation of the portable housing.

Mobile cooling device

Provided herein are various mobile cooling devices. In some embodiments, a mobile cooling device provided herein includes a base comprising a reservoir and a lid; and a fan assembly dimensioned to fit within the base. In some embodiments, the fan assembly of a mobile cooling device can include a vent configured to divert a portion of airflow toward an electronic component attached to the base. In some embodiments, the electronic component is attached to the bottom of the base.

A combination EAS/RFID antenna for use in an EAS/RFID surveillance system. The antenna includes an EAS antenna element and an RFID antenna element. The EAS antenna element includes an EAS loop antenna defining an interior area. The RFID antenna element is positioned within the interior area defined by the EAS loop antenna and includes a ground plane and RFID patch antenna. The ground plane and/or the RFID patch antenna have a segmented conductor pattern etched thereon. The segmented conductor pattern minimizes eddy currents in the ground plane produced by current flow through EAS loop antenna. The RFID antenna element is situated proximate the EAS loop antenna in such a fashion that the overall size of the antenna is reduced.

Combination electronic article surveillance/radio frequency identification antenna and method

A combination EAS/RFID antenna for use in an EAS/RFID surveillance system. The antenna includes an EAS antenna element and an RFID antenna element. The EAS antenna element includes an EAS loop antenna defining an interior portion. The RFID antenna element includes an RFID patch antenna having a hatched conductor pattern. The RFID antenna element is situated proximate the EAS loop antenna in such a fashion that the overall size of the antenna is reduced.

A handheld barcode/RFID reader includes a printed circuit board having a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The first side includes at least a portion of barcode/RFID electronic circuitry affixed thereto. The second side contains a ground plane for the electronic circuitry. The handheld barcode/RFID reader further includes a patch antenna, electrically coupled to the circuitry, and mounted on the second side of the printed circuit board such that the ground plane of the printed circuit board also provides a ground for the patch antenna.

The present invention provide a motion detection circuit for a handheld item detection system, where the motion detection circuit includes an accelerometer outputting at least one signal corresponding to a measured acceleration. A differentiator differentiates the measured acceleration. A motion detection device evaluates a discriminated version of the acceleration and a discriminated version of the acceleration to determine whether the handheld item detection system is in motion. The present invention extends battery life and allows a handheld system to quickly enter an active operational mode without any user intervention other than handling (moving) the system.

An electronic article surveillance (EAS) system including: an EAS device and an EAS range finder system for providing indication as to when the EAS device is within an operational distance from the EAS tag. The system may include a barcode scanner for providing an output having a distinct visible pattern when the operational distance is achieved. An energy source may be provided, and the EAS system may determine when the operational distance is achieved by detection of energy reflected from an article carrying the EAS tag.

A handheld combined electronic article surveillance (EAS) and barcode scanner device. The device may be configured for wireless communication with a point of sale network so that is entirely portable within a protected area. The device may include a capacitor disposed in handle at a proximal end of the device and an antenna may be disposed at a distal end of the device. A base station may be provided for receiving the device.

Portable handheld electronic article surveillance and scanner device

An electronic key capable of reinitializing or resetting a security disabled electronic article surveillance (EAS) device is provided. The electronic key can be a secure, portable, and battery powered for initializing a secured EAS system's security protocol to factory default state, or to another preselected state. The key has its own set of security protocols to prevent unauthorized use and can easily be reprogrammed for a wide variety of other functions including, but not limited to, firmware upgrading, diagnostic testing, and the like. The key can be connected to the programming port of an EAS device and perform a preset reprogramming operation, resetting activated security features. The key could be purchased for customer use, and would be secured by preselecting the total number of uses, such as one use. The one-time use would begin once the key is activated. Activation of the key is also uniquely controlled to prevent its misuse. In one embodiment, the electronic key must detect the interrogation field of a properly functioning EAS exit system prior to becoming enabled. The allowed usage can be limited by time, the number of units reprogrammed, or a combination of both. Once the key has been activated for its pre-selected number of uses and shuts off, only qualified service personnel can reset the electronic key function for further uses.

Portable electronic security key for electronic article surveillance device

A system to non-invasively interface a POS reader/scanner to an EAS tag deactivator is provided and includes a reader for reading indicia, such as a bar code, associated with an article. The system is non-invasive because the integrity of the POS reader is not violated by the interface. The POS reader generates a signal to indicate a successful read of the indicia associated with the article. A sensor senses the signal produced by the POS reader and generates an output signal. An EAS tag deactivator is connected to the sensor. The sensor output signal triggers the EAS tag deactivator, which will remain energized for a preselectable period of time to deactivate an EAS tag associated with the article.
