A wheel fastener alarm assembly is provided having a fastener body with a first portion defining a wrenching surface and a cavity, and a second portion with a threaded portion to attach and detach from a wheel of a vehicle. A sensor array is disposed in the cavity of fastener body to detect an attribute of the fastener body and generate an output signal based on the attribute of the fastener body. An antenna connected to the sensor array to transmit the signal to a remote location. A cap is secured to the first portion of the fastener body and covers the wrenching surface and the cavity opening to define a capped fastener body.

Wheel fastener alarm

A capped fastener is provided with two outer flanges and a groove therebetween. The cap is crimped around the first outer flange without covering the second outer flange. The end of the cap is crimped in a groove between the first and second outer flanges. A crimping tool and method of crimping are also provided for crimping the end of a cap into a groove between two outer flanges.

A wheel fastener alarm is provided with a fastener body, a cap covering the fastener body, a sensor array disposed within the fastener body, and a cover disposed over an opening in the fastener body and a hole in the cap.

Fasteners are disclosed for use with multiple standard torque delivery tools. The fasteners include several different torque bearing portions for use with different torque delivery tools, as well as non-torque bearing portions disposed between torque bearing portions.

Hybrid three-point drive fastener

Fasteners are disclosed for reducing mass of the fastener, while being configured for use with standard torque delivery tools. The fasteners include non-torque bearing surfaces disposed between torque bearing surfaces.

Three-point fastener

A fastener assembly comprising a threaded component and a washer, wherein the bearing surfaces between the threaded component and washer each include helically inclined surface segments such that the clamp load exerted on the washer by the threaded component alternates between being increased and being decreased during rotation of the nut in a single direction.

Anti-loosening incremental tension fastener assembly

A capped fastener is provided with deflected projections on the nut body for securing a cap on the nut body. The deflected projections fit within a double walled edge of the cap. The projections are deflected through a simple method during the assembly process.

Capped wheel fastener and method of assembly

Fasteners are provided with a polymer layer covering a body. The polymer layer may improve the aesthetics of the fastener and may be colored to provide various color options. The polymer layer covers at least part of a wrench bearing surface.

Plastic polymer covered fastener

A hood bumper assembly for automotive vehicle hoods is provided that can manage impact energy from a collision with a pedestrian. The hood bumper assembly may have a bumper with a cushion that is threaded to a retainer attached to the vehicle frame. The threaded engagement between the bumper and the retainer may have a percentage of thread engagement that is less than industry standards so that the threads skip without substantially deforming when an impact load is applied to the vehicle hood.

Improved fasteners are provided for minimizing deformation in the corner region of the bearing surfaces. The bearing surfaces have a primary bearing surface and a recessed bearing surface. The primary bearing surfaces may be oriented in a hexagonal shape with opposing surfaces parallel to each other. The recessed bearing surface is disposed inwardly from the primary bearing surface and extends from the primary bearing surface to the end of the bearing surface.

Fastener with improved torque bearing surface

The present invention relates to a u-bolt comprising, a shaft having a curved portion and two ends, the ends each have a threaded surface, the curved portion is located between the ends, at least a portion of the end has a trilobular shape, and the curved portion is shaped so that a distance between the ends is shorter than the length of the end.

U-bolt assembly

A wheel nut and washer assembly for securing a wheel to a motor vehicle axle. The wheel nut includes a body having a longitudinal axis, the nut body also having an axial threaded aperture and a pair of ends, one end being in the form of a smooth steel external surface. The wheel nut also includes a steel washer having an end terminating in a smooth annular surface in surface-to-surface engagement with the body end thereby maintaining axially alignment of the body and washer enabling relative movement of said body and washer about said axis. A decorative cap on the assembly is configured so that it holds the washer on the nut, a gap between the cap and washer to enable the washer to freely rotate and move laterally relative to the nut.
