A food service table (10) is provided which includes separate heating and cooling systems enclosed within a housing (12) which may be selectively activated to heat or to cool food displayed and served on the table. Substantially all of the upper surface (13) of the housing (12) includes a food service area (14) in which is mounted a food service pan (24). Heating elements (26) and cooling coils (42) mounted on the pan (24) heat or cool foods displayed in the pan. The cooling system includes accumulator means (34) positioned at the lowest level of the cooling system for receiving and collecting refrigerant fluid upon activation of the heating system. Control means are provided to control the expansion and flow of refrigerant fluid during operation of the heating system.

Combined refrigerated and heated food service table

A knockdown shelving assembly includes a cylindrical shelf supporting sleeve positioned on a shelf supporting standard. The shelf supporting sleeve and the shelf supporting standard include ramps which are in interfering engagement with each other to affix the supporting sleeve to the supporting standard, and a shelf rests on an end edge of the cylindrical shelf supporting sleeve to be supported on the supporting standard via the supporting sleeve.

Knockdown shelving assembly

A control system improvement. A high speed air bleed path and a low speed air bleed path respectively bleed air into the high speed and low speed fuel circuits of a carburetor through either fuel circuit at any one time. A solenoid responsive to a control signal opens and closes the air bleed to control the quantity of air bled into the high speed and low speed circuits. The solenoid includes an isolator for isolating the high speed air bleed path from the low speed air bleed path to prevent cross flow of air from one air bleed path to the other. Cross flow of air between the paths adversely affects the degree of control over the delivery of fuel through the high speed and low speed fuel circuits.

Pulsing solenoid improvement

Apparatus for venting fuel vapors present in the fuel bowl of a carburetor for an internal combustion engine. A carburetor has at least one air passage through which air is drawn into the engine, a throttle valve positioned in the air passage and movable between an open and a closed position to control the flow of air therethrough, a fuel circuit by which fuel is delivered from the fuel bowl to the air passage for mixing with air passing therethrough, and means responsive to the movement of the throttle valve for controlling the quantity of fuel delivered through the fuel circuit. A fuel bowl cover has a vent through which fuel vapors discharge when the vent is open and a valve opens and closes the vent. A fuel pump supplies fuel from the fuel bowl to the air passage as the throttle valve opens and moves the valve to a vent opening position in response to the movement of the throttle valve. The pump is actuated as the throttle valve opens whereby the valve is opened and vapors in the fuel bowl are vented.

Apparatus for venting fuel vapors

A carburetor for an internal combustion engine has a conduit through which air is drawn into the engine, a source of fuel, and means for delivering fuel from the source to the conduit for mixing with air to form an air-fuel mixture combusted in the engine. An improvement comprises a throttle valve positioned at the inlet to the conduit and movable between a closed and an open position to control the quantity of air drawn into the engine. An outlet is defined for the fuel to be delivered to the conduit, fuel discharged through the outlet being atomized by the air flowing past the outlet. The air flowing past the fuel outlet flows therepast at substantially sonic velocities thereby to improve fuel atomization and enhance mixing of the air and fuel.

A carburetor for an internal combustion engine has an air passage, a throttle valve movable in the air passage for controlling flow of air therethrough, a source of fuel, and a fuel passage through which fuel is drawn from the source to the air passage for mixing with air to produce an air-fuel mixture combusted in the engine. The fuel passage has an orifice at one end communicating with the fuel source. A metering rod has a diameter variable along its length and is positioned in the orifice in response to movement of the throttle valve thereby to control the quantity of fuel drawn through the fuel passage. The position of the metering rod in the orifice is varied in response to a change in the engine vacuum level when a change in the load on the engine occurs. The movement of the metering rod produced in response to a change in the engine vacuum level is limited thereby to limit the variation in quantity of fuel drawn through the fuel passage when a change in engine vacuum level occurs. When the engine vacuum level is less than a predetermined level, a relatively greater movement is produced in the position of the metering rod in the orifice than the limited movement whereby a relatively greater quantity of fuel is drawn through the fuel passage during cranking of the engine.

Means for positioning a carburetor fuel metering rod

Apparatus for venting fuel vapors present in the fuel bowl of a carburetor for an internal combustion engine comprises a bowl vent through which fuel vapors discharge when the vent is open. A valve opens and closes the vent. A biasing force is exerted on the valve to close the vent. In response to starting of the engine first and second opening forces are exerted on the valve; these forces being sufficient to overcome the biasing force exerted thereon and open the vent. Each vent opening force is independently sufficient to open the vent and the vent is open when the engine is running even if one of the first and second forces is not exerted on the valve or is insufficient to open the valve.

A motor driven rotary fuel pump particularly adapted to meter fuel flow from a fuel supply line to a two-barrel carburetor of an internal combustion engine. The pump includes a rotor eccentrically mounted in a rotor chamber and having a plurality of pistons mounted in radially extending piston chambers spaced about the circumference of the rotor. An arcuate inlet slot in the housing adjacent the rotor supplies fuel to the piston chambers of the rotor and the fuel from the piston chambers is dispersed into arcuate outlet slots in the housing for discharge into a two-barrel carburetor. The pistons ride in engagement with a peripheral wall surface defining the rotor chamber and the piston chambers register successively with each of the arcuate slots with a dwell portion for the pistons provided by the wall surface between each of the arcuate slots. A drive connection between a drive motor and the rotor continuously urges the rotor into a sealing relation with a face of the rotor chamber.

Motor driven rotary fuel pump

An air valve for a carburetor has its lower end mounted for pivotal movement between open and closed positions relative to the air and fuel mixture conduit and carries a metering rod which extends generally in a horizontal direction. The metering rod has an end extending within a metering orifice of an orifice plate in an opening of the mixture conduit wall. The metering rod is urged by a coiled torsion spring upwardly against the orifice plate. The torsion spring has a small coil with a relatively high spring rate and a large coil with a relatively low spring rate. The large coil continuously urges the rod into engagement with the upper surface of the orifice plate defining the orifice, while the small coil urges the rod into engagement with the orifice plate only after the air valve is around one half open. The metering rod is mounted for limited pivotal movement relative to the air valve and the torsion spring exerts a generally uniform light force to the metering rod throughout the longitudinal movement of the metering rod to compensate for the varying distance between the orifice plate and pivotal mounting of the metering rod and the increased load against the rod caused by impinging air flow.

Metering rod control for an air valve carburetor

A metering rod support for a carburetor for an internal combustion engine in which a vertical extending metering rod is positioned in a metering jet to control the flow of fuel to the fuel nozzle discharging in the air and fuel mixture conduit. An integral one-piece hanger member wholly supports the metering rod and has a downwardly extending leg which contacts and continuously urges the metering rod in a horizontal direction into contact with the inner peripheral surface defining the metering jet thereby to provide improved flow characteristics. The one-piece hanger member is formed of a molded plastic material and when employed with an adjusting screw for varying the height of the metering rod receives the adjusting screw in a tight fit within an internally threaded opening.

Metering rod support for carburetor

A multi-barrel carburetor for an internal combustion engine has a primary throttle shaft and a metering rod lifter cam thereon. The metering rod lifter cam is generally C-shaped and has an inwardly projecting tongue which fits within a tapered groove in the throttle shaft for securing the cam thereon. The C-shaped cam is first inserted over a flat on the shaft and the groove in the shaft is aligned axially with the tongue of the cam. Then the shaft is slipped axially while the cam is held in position thereby to engage the tongue with the groove for securing the cam onto the throttle shaft.
