A seal detection device includes at least one seal with an outer surface where the outer surface is partially made up of a lateral surface and an axial surface. The at least one seal is provided with at least one seal mark and is placed on the lateral surface or the axial surface of the at least one seal. The at least one seal may be further provided with a unique code and may be associated with relevant seal data such as seal material, date of installation, last maintenance date, next scheduled maintenance/replacement, material safety data sheet(s), etc.

Sealing detection system and method

A seal assembly includes a pair of opposing seal lips, a bearing contacting both seal lips, a wall structure placed between and in contact with both seal lips, and a housing enclosing the pair of seal lips and the bearing that is configured to axially slide the seal lips, wall structure and bearing as the housing axially slides.

Axially sliding seal

A seal analysis system for measuring and analyzing a seal and a mating hardware configured to detect a defect and to analyze a condition of at least one of the seal and the mating hardware and includes a sensor and an electrical processing circuit. The sensor may be in a form of an optical inspection device, a laser scanner, a phone, or an ultrasound scanner. Additionally, the sensor may be provided to take a photo or video. The electrical processing circuit may be built in to the sensor or it may be a separate unit configured to communicate with the sensor. The electrical processing circuit may be configured to compare a condition of a seal and/or mating hardware against pre-set criteria.

System and method for detecting a condition of a seal

A sealing assembly includes an elastomer seal having an inner surface and a polymer cap bonded to the inner surface of the elastomer seal and having a dynamic sealing surface. The polymer cap is configured to form a continuous fluid-tight seal against a curved element when pressurized.

A sealing assembly for a shaft includes: a first sealing component; a first spring energizer associated with said first sealing component; an annular support member configured for supporting said first sealing component; a second sealing component; a second spring energizer associated with said second sealing component, said first and second sealing components each having a pair of seal lips, said pairs of seal lips facing each other, said first and second spring energizers each configured for energizing respectively said first and second sealing components, each said spring energizer being respectively between one said pair of seal lips, said annular support member being disposed about the shaft and positioned between said first and second sealing components and said first and second spring energizers, said annular support member including two outwardly facing protuberances each of which interfits with a respective said pair of seal lips.

A ball screw seal assembly which includes at least one energizer and a seal body, the ball screw seal assembly being configured for being positioned in a housing groove, the seal body including at least one outer diameter lip and two inner diameter lips, the at least one outer diameter lip being configured for contacting and sealing against the housing groove, the inner diameter lips being configured for wiping or scraping an outer surface of a threaded rod including a plurality of threads, the inner diameter lips being wipers or scrapers and being spaced apart from one another, the at least one energizer being configured for energizing and thereby biasing each of the inner diameter lips radially inwardly.

A seal assembly, includes a seal element including at least one seal lip, a wiper element including a wiper lip, and a structural element attached to the seal element and the wiper element, the seal assembly being configured for functioning under pressure in an amount greater than 500 pounds per square inch.

A sealing system for sealing between two members includes a polymer seal disposed between the two members, a measurement device, and an evaluation unit. The measurement device is at least partially disposed within the polymer seal, is configured for measuring an aspect of the polymer seal indicating sealing performance of the polymer seal, and is configured for creating a signal corresponding to a measured aspect of the polymer seal. The evaluation unit is configured for evaluating the signal corresponding to the measured aspect of the polymer seal and for determining a sealing performance capability of said polymer seal.

Seal system in situ lifetime measurement

A sealing assembly for a shaft includes a sealing component, a first ring, a second ring, and at least one energizer. The first ring is annularly disposed about the shaft, the first ring having at least one first protuberance interfittable with the sealing component. The second ring is annularly disposed about the shaft in facing opposition to the first ring, the second ring having at least one second protuberance interfittable with the sealing component. The at least one energizer energizes the seal component, the at least one energizer being adjacent the at least one first protuberance or the at least one second protuberance.

A seal system for use in high speed, high pressure applications including a rigid retainer and a resilient body covering the retainer having pressure balancing control. Reduced clearance of the metal case retainer prevents seal extrusion.

A backup ring is provided adjacent a seal apparatus for delivering a controlled space between two relatively moving parts. The backup ring provides protection against seal extrusion and failure, and can provide an auxiliary seal when needed. The backup ring includes either an arcuate surface that deforms under pressure, or a cantilever portion that deforms under pressure, or both.

A sealing device for sealing the gap between two relatively moving members is provided with a pivot point on its cross-sectional perimeter. As pressure against the seal increases, the seal rotates about the pivot point, resulting in an increased sealing surface area on the seal. Additionally, a recess is provided on the cross sectional perimeter, advantageously offering a more frictionless sealing relationship between the seal and the moving member. Further, a recess is provided on outer portion of the cross sectional perimeter on a surface of the seal that would contact an energizer ring, the recess eliminating a dynamic interface between the energizer ring and the seal.

Rotary seal with relief angle for controlled tipping

The present seal system is in two parts. First is that of an elastomer energizer, which may be in the shape of a square ring, o-ring, or an other custom design for energizing the seal system. Second is that of a seal element having a particular geometry and composition. The geometric layout of the seal element ensures firm contact between the seal and groove bottom, independently of the seal pressure and radial position of the moving part, and concentrates contact forces against the moving part by means of a seal apex. In the installed state, the seal is forced into contact with the groove bottom by having an outer diameter matching or exceeding that of the groove bottom, and a radial height exceeding that of the housing groove. Further, the influence of the compression ring or energizer is balanced out by positioning the seal apex near the axial position of the center of the energizer. The seal apex itself is defined by an inlet angle upstream of the apex of preferably more than 30&deg; to the moving part, and a downstream slip angle of greater than 5&deg; preferably greater than 7&deg;.
