An activity toy which may be used to first form a toy monster figure by shaping a plastic molding material mixed with sodium bicarbonate powder around a toy skeleton, and to then dissolve or break the molding material free from the toy skeleton by immersing the monster figure in a diluted citric acid solution contained in a vat. The toy skeleton is made out of a number of parts removably held together by ball-and-socket joints. Measuring receptacles are provided for determining the amount of plastic molding material needed for forming the toy monster figure. Stamps may be used to form the face or other part of the toy monster figure, or to add texture or detail to the molding material.

A toy glider having a generally rigid spine member with integrally formed transversely extending connector portions configured for receiving the wings therein, with the wings being separable from the spine member on impact. The wings are provided with creases with apertures adjacent thereto for connecting thereto simulated armament which maintains each wing in a folded configuration, with a seat member being adjustably attachable to the spine member, the seat being adapted for receiving one of a plurality of toy figures of different weights within a range of weights, the position of the seat and the weight of the figure, in part, controlling the aerodynamics of the glider.

An animated figure toy (10) includes an upper torso (14) provided with a head (18) in which a pair of elongated members (34) are reciprocably mounted for movement by an operating member (26) affixed to the lower ends of the elongated members and riding in a slot (42) provided in the back of the upper torso. A lower torso (16) is rotatably mounted on the upper torso and includes a spring means (54) mounted on a boss (46) coupling the torsos together for limited relative rotation.

An animated figure toy (10) includes an upper torso (14) provided with a pair of heads (18, 19) and a pair of arms (20, 21) rotatably fixed to shoulder portions (24, 26) by spring assembly (27, 28). The arms may be pulled back and released so as to strike the head on the opposite side of the upper torso. A lower torso (16) is rotatably mounted on the upper torso by means of a boss (76) coupling the torsos together for relative rotation, and includes legs (22, 23) rotatably mounted therein, and held together by a single connector (29).

A toy vehicle having an arm with a ball at the end thereof pivotable relative to an axle of the vehicle from a nested position to a position forward of the vehicle, the mechanism being actuated by depression of a push lever, upon which a spring-biased rack member is mannually actuated against the force of the spring to a rearward position, the rack member engaging a pinion gear member rotatable relative to the axle, which, through a clutch controlled coupling device pivots the arm and ball about the axle into engagement with the surface or an object in advance of the vehicle.

An animated figure toy (10) includes an upper torso (14) made of transparent material and a lower torso (16) rotatably secured together. The upper torso is provided with a neck opening (30) in which a hollow head is rotatably mounted. The hollow head includes a jaw (19) articulately mounted thereon by a tang portion (78) captured between the upper end (72, 74, 76) of an elongated jaw actuator (64) which extends into and out of the interior of said head upon actuation of a gear train (50, 52, 54) and an eccentric (56) through a torso coupling mechanism (34, 36, 46) upon rotation of the torsos with respect to each other. The transparent upper torso allows the gear train and mechanism to be viewed.

A figure toy with positionable appendages and having upper and lower torso portions pivotally interconnected with a spring member at the axis of pivoting. The rear of the torso is configured for retaining sound emitting devices, such as a plurality of caps, and a mechanism including a spring-biased hammer member is provided within the torso, the hammer member being cocked in response to pivoting in a first direction against the force of the spring of the upper torso relative to the lower torso. Upon release of the upper torso, the spring urges pivoting of the upper torso in the opposite direction, with a time delay mechanism suddenly releasing the hammer under force of its bias, near the end of travel in the opposite direction, to fire the cap, thus simulating the sound of a punch with the arm positioned to a punching position.

A combination toy vehicle (10), a jump (14) for the vehicle, a tower (12) holding a swinging hoop (24) having a flame design adjacent the end of the jump, and a landing ramp (16) for the vehicle. The toy vehicle includes a shift lever (110, 110A) to hold the vehicle stationary when a motor in the vehicle is wound, and which upon release, allows the vehicle to move forward over the jump, through the swinging hoop, if in motion, and land on the landing ramp thereby simulating the vehicle leaping through a flaming stunt hoop.

A method of making flying surfaces is disclosed which employs a panel of foam plastic to form a one piece frame. A plurality of apertures are die cut in the panel to establish the desired interior shape of the frame. One side of the panel is coated with an adhesive. A sheet of thin plastic film material is applied over the adhesive to cover the surface of the panel. Shapes in the form of the desired outline of the flying surface are cut out of the panel. The size of the panel is chosen so that a multitude of flying surfaces may be produced simultaneously.
