One embodiment provides an electronic device, including: two or more ports; two or more charging circuits, wherein the two or more ports have an associated charging circuit; a battery; a processor; and a memory device that stores instructions executable by the processor to: detect, at a first port, a physically connected plug; detect, at a second port, a physically connected plug; and provide, via the two or more charging circuits, charging to the battery from both of the detected plugs. For selectively restricting the charge level of a battery, methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed. One apparatus includes a battery, a temperature sensor that measures a temperature of the battery, a processor, and a memory that stores code executable by the processor. Here, the processor selects a maximum charge level using the temperature of the battery, where the maximum charge becomes less than a full charge level of the battery in response to the battery temperature being above a threshold temperature. Moreover, the processor restricts charging of the battery to the maximum charge level in response to the temperature of the battery being above the threshold temperature.

The battery pack includes one or more cell balancing resistors, plural battery cells in a circuit with the one or more cell balancing resistors, at least one processor, and storage accessible to the processor. The storage includes instructions executable by the processor to determine whether a threshold amount of time has accrued during which the device has not been operated on battery power and, responsive to a determination that the threshold amount of time has accrued, employ the one or more cell balancing resistors of the battery pack to reduce the charge level of the plural battery cells.

A system and method include detecting whether a fast charger module is coupled to a system having a processor and a memory device. If the fast charger module is coupled to the system, a fast charging current is provided from the fast charger module at multiple selectable voltage levels via an internal charger. If the fast charger module is not detected as coupled to the system, a charging current is provided from an AC adapter via the internal charger.

The apparatus includes an AC adapter input, a battery charger coupled to the input to charge a battery, a temperature sensor, and system logic to execute code stored on storage devices. The battery charger provides a charging current that is a function of temperature sensed by the temperature sensor.
