Briefly, and in accordance with the foregoing, the present invention comprises a roller assembly for use with a bending apparatus for bending conduit and the like. The bending apparatus includes a frame, a bending shoe associated with the frame and a drive device for controllably driving the bending shoe. The roller assembly provides a roller which pivotably adjusts to an outside surface of the workpiece to accommodate variations in the workpiece while it is being bent during a rolling operation. The roller assembly includes a shaft attached and supported by the frame, two pivot segments and two roller dies. The pivot segments are positioned along and spaced apart on the shaft and each has an arcuate surface in a facing orientation with the other pivot segment. The roller dies have facing ends and base ends and a pivot socket formed in the base end. The pivot socket is sized and dimensioned for cooperatively mating with the arcuate surface of the pivot segment. A pivot bore extends from the facing ends of each of the roller dies through the die to the pivot socket. The pivot bores may be slightly tapered inwardly from the facing ends towards the pivot socket. Each of the roller dies has a concave rolling surface which is formed for receiving an outside surface of a workpiece placed thereagainst during a bending operation. The cooperative arrangement of the tapered pivot bores and the pivot sockets mated with the pivot segments allows the concave rolling surfaces of the roller dies to pivotably adjust to accommodate dimensional variations in the outside surface of a workpiece during a bending operation.

The punch comprises peripheral cutting edges and lateral cutting edges. The peripheral edges cut a slug in the desired shape, for examples, rectangular, square, oval, trapezoidal, D and double D-shaped, etc. while the lateral edges cut transversely from one peripheral edge to an opposite peripheral edge, thereby splitting the slug. Lateral cutting edges provide a dividing line across the working face. Surfaces and cutting edges on each side of the dividing line are similar and canted at opposite angles. Lateral cutting edges and peripheral cutting edges at their juncture provide pyramidal cutting sections which initially pierce the workpiece and initiate lateral slug splitting. This split grows from the slug periphery toward the center. Splitting is complete before a substantial portion of the slug periphery is cut.

The panel punch includes a main punch configured to punch a trapezoidal opening in an electrical panel to receive an electrical chassis connector and a secondary punch integral with the main punch and extending from opposite ends thereof configured to punch a U-shaped slot in the panel extending from the ends of the trapezoidal opening to receive mounting screws for physically attaching the electrical connector to the panel.

A cable pulling device includes an anti-reversing clutch between the driving means and capstan to allow the capstan to be rotated by the motor in one direction for cable pulling but preventing rotation of the capstan in the reverse direction by cable loads when driving motor power is interrupted. The anti-reversing clutch prevents breakage of the drive chains and other drive train components.

A male punch member is disclosed for use with a female die member to remove a slug in two pieces from a sheet metal workpiece. The working end of the punch member is specially configured to enable punching and splitting of a slug into two pieces from a wide range of materials such as 10-gauge, type 304 stainless steel while providing acceptable punch life.

The follow bar of a rocker type conduit bender includes a pair of cam tracks with a series of angular ramp surfaces along their length. The inclination of the ramp surfaces relative to the working surface of the bender shoe is varied inversely with changes in length of the bender lever arm to provide more uniform bending forces on the conduit.

A mechanical knock-out punch driver has a torque housing that has a recirculating ball screw unit rotatably supported therein. A driver collar is connected to a rotatable handle to direct a rotary input force to a nut portion of the ball screw unit so as to drive the screw portion of the ball unit and a draw stud connected thereto axially and linearly without rotation. A draw punch is pulled by the non-rotating draw stud to cut a slug of material from a sheet material panel to produce a clearance hole for the passage of electrical conduit, tubing, piping or the like.

An electric driven portable conduit bender provided with a bending shoe which is rotatably mounted on a horizontal axis and including a roller support unit mounted on the bender frame and retained with a quick-release pin. The rollers in the roller support unit are rotated to match the size of conduit.
