Scrolling input arrangements are presented including: a flexible membrane; a number of capacitive sensors mechanically integrated with the flexible membrane, the capacitive sensors radially disposed with respect to a first axis that is perpendicular with respect to the flexible membrane; an integrated circuit mechanically coupled with the flexible membrane and electronically coupled with the capacitive sensors, the integrated circuit configured to process a number of electronic signals from the capacitive sensors to provide a scrolling function; and a connection region on the flexible membrane for electronically coupling the scrolling input arrangement with an electronic device. In some embodiments, the capacitive sensors are configured with a plate element having a first surface area and a trace element having a second surface area such that the first surface area and second surface area comprise a sensor surface area, wherein the sensor surface areas for the capacitive sensors is substantially equal in size.

An apparatus for removing heat from heat generating elements is disclosed. The apparatus is a thermal management system having a thermal distribution assembly in either one of or both of conductive and radiative communication with heat generating elements. The thermal distribution assembly has thermal zones, each of which is associated with at least one heat generating element. The thermal distribution assembly includes a heat spreading frame and a heat conducting frame. Heat passes from the heat generating elements to the heat conducting frame and then to the heat spreading frame, from which the heat is removed via convection.

An electrostatic shield and method for shielding an electric field are presented, having particular application to the reduction of electric field emissions from a CRT display. The electrostatic shield is formed from a flexible non-conductive substrate and includes a plurality of radially disposed conductive elements. The shield is secured to the outer surface of the CRT, between the deflection yoke and screen, and the conductive elements are coupled to ground potential. In addition to a method for using the abovedescribed shield, a method is presented for shielding the electric field by applying conductive traces directly to the surface of the CRT, again between the deflection yoke and screen. These traces are coupled to the aquadag coating on the outer surface of the CRT, effectively grounding the traces and providing the desired shielding effect.
