The present invention relates to a fan cylinder bracing system for a cooling tower having a fan deck that extends along a longitudinal axis. The bracing system has a first ring having a first diameter wherein the first ring is located at a first position along the longitudinal axis. It also has a second ring having a second diameter wherein the second ring is located at a second position along the longitudinal axis. Finally, the cylinder bracing system has a first brace connected to the first ring and said second ring, wherein said first brace transfers loads from the first ring to the second ring.

External fan stack bracing apparatus and method

A heat exchange splash bar for evaporative cooling. The splash bar includes a first serrated base along with a second serrated base. The splash bar additionally includes a first side wall connected to the first serrated base that extends at an angle away from the first serrated base, that includes a plurality of apertures disposed thereon. A second side wall is connected to the second serrated base that also extends at an angle away from the second serrated base. The second side wall additionally includes a plurality of apertures disposed thereon. The heat exchange splash bar additionally includes a top wall that extends between the first side wall and the second side wall, wherein said top wall includes a plurality of openings having fingers extending therein.

Splash bar apparatus and method

A heating tower apparatus for heating a liquid. The heating tower includes a frame assembly, liquid distribution assembly and a fill medium. The heating tower additionally includes a hood that extends from the frame assembly. A shroud is disposed within the hood and the hood provides an air flow outlet. The heating tower further includes a track connected to the frame assembly along with a first door connected to the track and a second door connected to the track. The first door moves along the track between the hood and a first air flow inlet while the second door moves along the track between the hood and a second air flow outlet. The heating tower also includes first and second winches that operate to move the first and second doors along the track.

Heating tower apparatus and method with wind direction adaptation

A cooling tower and/or a fan drive system are provided which enhance cooling performance, are able to reduce lateral temperature gradients at least to some degree, provide for easy removal of debris and/or provide for easy fan adjustment.

Fan drive for fluid cooler with evaporative heat exchanger

An elongated, flexible protective urethane member is bonded and firmly affixed to the leading edge of a glass fiber reinforced polyester skin fan blade for large diameter industrial water cooling tower fans. The polyester blade without such protective member would be subject to leading edge abrasion and deterioration during use. The flexible protective member is applied to the blade prior to curing of the chemically thickened polyester skin. Firm bonding and adherence of the protective member to the leading edge of the blade skin is obtained by curing of the skin with the protective member in place over the leading edge of the blade. Mechanical connection of the urethane member to the polyeste blade body is accomplished by provision of a series of holes along opposed longitudinal margins of the member which allow fluid polyester resin to flow into such openings during cure of the blade body resin layers, and by application of a glass fiber reinforced synthetic resin hold-down strip over opposed longitudinally extending edges of the hold-down strips and adjacent areas of the blade skin. Thus, upon completion of the cure cyle, the polyester resin within the openings cross-links with the underlying resin material and the overlying hold-down strips to more securely lock the member to the blade body.

Industrial cooling tower fan blade having abrasion resistant leading edge

A molded, composite, airfoil-defining, synthetic resin blade for large diameter cooling tower fans is disclosed wherein a moderately dense synthetic resin foam core is first formed that is generally of the same size and shape as the final desired blade. A shank embedded in the foam core extends outwardly from the end of the blade that is adapted to be fastened to the fan hub. A skin of fiberglass reinforced synthetic resin material is placed over the foam core with the thickness of the skin being greatest at the hub end of the blade and especially around the shank. The foam core with the skin thereon is molded into the final desired configuration thereof under pressure and temperature conditions such that the core is compressed and the thickness reduced to an extent correlated with the thickness of the synthetic resin skin on opposite faces thereof. Compression of the core enhances conversion of the fiberglass reinforced synthetic resin layers into a laminar monolithic skin by virtue of curing of the synthetic resin skin between the compressed core and the mold. The core is provided with stepped areas on opposite sides of the core which increase in height in a direction away from the shank. A sufficient number of pre-prepared, flexible sheets of fiberglass reinforced resin material are placed over the stepped areas to substantially fill the space between the mold and said stepped areas of the core during curing of the resin.
