Methods and apparatus relate to treating fluid to at least reduce selenium content within the fluid. The treating includes conditioning stages to alter a composition of the fluid prior to removal of the selenium content from the fluid. The composition of the fluid after the conditioning stages facilitates the removal of the selenium content or at least limits detrimental impact to selenium removal efficiency.

Treatment stages for selenium removal

A process of modifying a zeolite catalyst to produce a modified zeolite catalyst wherein the modified zeolite catalyst has blocked pore sites. An oxygenated feed is flowed over the modified zeolite catalyst, wherein the oxygenated feed comprises hydrocarbons, methanol and dimethyl ether or a mixture thereof. The hydrocarbons, methanol and dimethyl ether in the oxygenated feed react with the modified zeolite catalyst to produce cyclic hydrocarbons, wherein the cyclic hydrocarbons produced has less than 10% durene and a median carbon number is C8.

Process for converting an oxygenated feed to high octane gasoline

A process for removing naphthenic acids from an aqueous stream using a composition comprising calcium and activated carbon, and optionally a process for removing naphthenic acid and selenium compounds from an aqueous stream, is disclosed.

Attrition resistant, sorbent compositions for the removal of elemental sulfur and sulfur compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide and organic sulfides, from cracked-gasoline and diesel fuels are prepared by the impregnation of a sorbent support comprising zinc oxide, expanded perlite, and alumina with a promoter such as nickel, nickel oxide or a precursor of nickel oxide followed by reduction of the valence of the promoter metal in the resulting promoter metal sorbent support composition. Also disclosed is a composition comprising desulfurized, cracked-gasoline wherein the desulfurized cracked-gasoline comprises less than about 1 ppmw thiol compounds and less than about 1 ppmw tetrahydrothiophene compounds.

Process for prolonging the effectiveness of a pyrolytic cracking tube which has been treated with an antifoulant for inhibiting the formation of coke during the cracking of hydrocarbons. The benefits of such treatment are enhanced by the desulfurization of a sulfur-containing feedstock prior to charging it to the treated pyrolytic cracking tube.

For a given percentage decomposition, the decomposition temperature of an organosilicon compound is reduced by admixing with the organosilicon compound a decomposition promoting organotin compound. The amount of decomposition promoting organotin compound admixed with the organosilicon compound is sufficient to effectively lower the decomposition temperature of the organosilicon required for a given percentage decomposition.

A thermal cracking process is provided which comprises contacting a thermal cracking furnace with a fluid stream which comprises steam and a polysulfide such as di-t-nonylpolysulfide under a condition sufficient to effect the suppression of the formation of carbon monoxide and thereafter introducing a steam fluid containing a saturated hydrocarbon such as ethane and a polysulfide such as di-t-nonylpolysulfide under a condition sufficient to convert the saturated hydrocarbon to an olefinic compound such as ethylene.

The rate of formation of carbon on the surfaces of thermal cracking tubes and the production of carbon monoxide during thermal cracking of hydrocarbons are inhibited by the use of cracking tubes treated with an antifoulant, including tin compound, silicon compound and sulfur compounds in the presence of a reducing gas such as hydrogen. Additionally, the concentration of carbon monoxide in a pyrolytic cracking process product stream is reduced by the treatment of the thermal cracking tubes of such process with a reducing gas having a concentration of a sulfur compound.
