A utility vehicle automatic transmission powertrain mounting includes a front isolator under an internal combustion engine, a pair of mid isolators under an adapter plate between the internal combustion engine and an automatic transmission, and a rear isolator over the automatic transmission. Each of the isolators is on a frame member of a rear portion of an off road or recreational utility vehicle frame. The utility vehicle powertrain mounting may be used with multiple engine options on off road or recreational utility vehicles having powertrains behind the seats and under the cargo bed. The utility vehicle powertrain mounting provides easy access to service, repair or replace the transmission, and provides support and stability for the engine during transmission work.

Utility vehicle automatic transmission powertrain mounting

An off-road utility vehicle air conditioning system includes an air conditioning unit positioned at least partially inside a mounting structure in front of an enclosed cab, and between a pair of front wheels of the utility vehicle. The air conditioning unit may be connected to a variable displacement air conditioning compressor positioned behind the cab and below a rear cargo box. A non-electronically controlled belt driven continuously variable transmission transmits power from a gas powered internal combustion engine under the rear cargo box to a pair of front wheels and pair of rear wheels, the continuously variable transmission biased to ratios where the engine runs at over about 5000 rpm.

Off-road utility vehicle air conditioning system

A front attachment control system includes a selective control valve controlled by a joystick in a utility vehicle operator station, a diverter valve connected to the selective control valve and having a diverter switch that switches the diverter valve between a first position for an attachment tilt function and a second position for an attachment angling function controlled by the joystick. A front attachment with an angling cylinder includes a pair of hydraulic lines connectable to the diverter valve, and an actuator that engages the diverter switch as the hydraulic lines are connected to the diverter valve to switch the diverter valve to the second position.

Front attachment control system

A power unit includes an engine, a belt transmission driven by the engine, and a second transmission driven by the belt transmission. The engine includes an engine output shaft having an end portion projecting outward from the engine. The second transmission includes a transmission input shaft and a transmission output shaft having respective end portions projecting outward from the second transmission. The belt transmission includes a drive pulley provided on the end portion of the engine output shaft, a driven pulley provided on the end portion of the transmission input shaft, and a belt looped over the drive and driven pulleys. The belt has first and second portions between the drive and driven pulleys. The first portion runs from the drive pulley to the driven pulley. The second portion runs from the driven pulley to the drive pulley. The end portion of the transmission output shaft is extended through a portion of the belt transmission between the drive and driven pulleys and between the first and second portions of the belt so as to project outward from the belt transmission.

A convertible cargo rack has a platform attached to a rear seat back and pivots between a seating position and a cargo position. A side rail is linked to the platform and pivots together with the platform. The side rail provides a retaining structure above and around the perimeter of the platform in the cargo position, and is generally coplanar with the front, side and rear walls of the cargo box in the cargo position. Linkages between the platform and the side rail align the platform and the side rail so they are generally parallel to each other in any position.

A first clutch assembly has an active state for transmitting rotational energy and an inactive state for not transmitting rotational energy. A generator has a generator shaft associated with the first clutch assembly. A second clutch assembly has an active state for transmitting rotational energy and an inactive state for not transmitting rotational energy. A transmission has a transmission shaft directly or indirectly associated with the second clutch assembly. A third clutch assembly has an active state for transmitting rotational energy and an inactive state for not transmitting rotational energy. An engine has an engine shaft associated with the third clutch assembly. A controller establishes an operational mode of the vehicle by controlling the states of the first clutch assembly, the second clutch assembly, and the third clutch assembly.

Recreational utility vehicle

A snowmobile has a front pair of skis carried by a front suspension, including right- and left-hand telescopic strut assemblies. The front suspension includes a U-shaped stabilizer bar having an intermediate section arranged for being loaded in torsion and right- and left-hand leg sections respectively linked to swivelly and telescopically mounted strut tubes so that during right- and left-hand turns, the stabilizer bar respectively acts to resiliently resist collapse of the right- and left-hand telescopic strut assemblies.

A snowmobile is provided with an electrical control system for controlling the R.P.M. of the snowmobile engine. Forming part of the control system is a normally open, operator-presence sensing switch arranged in conjunction with a specially mounted throttle control lever such that the switch is closed anytime an operator's thumb is depressing the throttle control lever. The electrical control system is operative when the switch is open to maintain the engine R.P.M. at a value below that necessary for effecting engagement of a speed-responsive variable speed drive connecting an output shaft of the engine with a drive track of the snowmobile, and is operative when the switch is closed to maintain the engine R.P.M. at a value below that considered excessive for the engine and drive components.
