A reactor and regeneration for effecting radial flow contact of a reactant stream with catalyst particles movable as an annular-form bed by gravity flow and for reducing stresses in the bed is disclosed.

Reaction and regeneration system

A system and method for treating, injecting and co-combusting sludge in a municipal waste or other solid fuel combustor. The system includes a sludge receiving and treatment module and a sludge injection and combustion module. The sludge is received and stored in one or more storage hoppers where its moisture content is monitored and varied to obtain a sludge having a desired moisture content. The treated sludge is then pumped to a furnace injection nozzle where it is preferably atomized with steam and sprayed into the combustion zone of the furnace. Improved odor control in sludge handling is also provided by a storage tank and a sludge tanker trailer each having an air diffuser for mixing and aerating the sludge and a filter system for filtering odors.

Co-combustion of waste sludge in municipal waste combustors and other furnaces

A system and method for treating, injecting and co-combusting sludge in a municipal waste or other combustor is disclosed. The system includes a sludge receiving and treatment module and a sludge injection and combustion module. The sludge is received and stored in one or more storage hoppers where it is first diluted with a liquid and subsequently mixed to a desired homogeneous consistency suitable for pumping. The high liquid content sludge is then pumped to a furnace injection nozzle where it is preferably atomized with steam and sprayed into the combustion zone of the furnace. The disclosed system and method increases sludge moisture content and controls the solids content of the sludge to control furnace temperature.

A controlled method of changing the transport rate of particles between a source zone and a destination zone is disclosed. Changes are made in a desired value of the pressure difference of the conduit between the two zones through which the particles are transported. The changes are of a magnitude that are determined by the batchwise transfer of particles into the source zone and are performed at a rate that is determined by the dynamics of the process, rather than by the frequency of the batchwise transfers, until the desired final value of the pressure difference is reached. The method minimizes fluctuations in the pressures of the two zones without over-sized vessels or additional equipment that would otherwise be needed to accommodate pressure changes. This results in a savings in construction costs. This invention is adaptable to a multitude of processes for the catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons in which deactivated catalyst particles are regenerated.

Method for regulating particle transfer rates

A controlled method of changing the transport rate of particles between two zones is disclosed. Changes are made in a computed value of the pressure difference of the conduit between the two zones through which the particles are transported. The changes are of a predetermined magnitude and are performed at predetermined time intervals, until the desired final value of the pressure difference is reached. The method minimizes fluctuations in the pressures of the two zones without over-sized vessels or additional equipment that would otherwise be needed to accommodate pressure changes. This results in a savings in construction costs. This invention is adaptable to a multitude of processes for the catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons in which deactivated catalyst particles are regenerated.

Method for changing particulate transport rates between zones

A controlled method of transporting catalyst between two zones while inhibiting communication between the atmospheres of the zones is disclosed. Communication between the zones is inhibited by controlling pressure differences. The two zones are separated by a means to lift catalyst, which results in a savings in construction costs. This invention is adaptable to a multitude of processes for the catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons in which deactivated catalyst particles are regenerated.

Controlled method of transporting catalyst between zones

A system for separating contaminants from the plastic flake obtained by granulating synthetic plastic containers and products, which have contaminants bonded thereto, has a cryogenic housing for receiving the flake and a transport mechanism incorporated with the housing for moving the flake in a flow stream through the housing. The flake is mixed with a cryogenic medium at a subzero temperature and an impeller receives the frozen flake in a flow stream. An impact wall is provided outboard of the impeller and the impeller is rapidly revolved to radially separate the flakes and hurl the flakes individually at the impact wall with sufficient force to break the bond between the flakes and contaminant.

An improved, space-saving bench/table combination assembly which is convenient, compactable and storable, as well as being exceptionally stable and steady in fully expanded disposition, comprises a bench section or portion having pivotally attached thereto a seat back component or portion adapted to be placed at least substantially upright with respect to the seat section which component folds upwardly and outwardly forward ahead of the bench section to present and position its front section in a substantially horizontal plane as a table top from which top depends at its leading or outermost extended edge fold-out legs that are retractable to storage on the back side of the seat back component providing positive and solid table support nicely effective beyond the center of gravity between the leading edge of the table and the bench section of the completely unfolded assembly when it is in such position. The seat assembly advantageously has collapsible, fold-under seat legs which render it very highly compact in completely folded-down condition; it also being excellently stackable for efficient storage in either seat-back bench form or in a completely folded down condition.
