A child-resistant, elderly friendly dispensing container comprises a housing having an opening in its top wall and a drawer which slideably fits in the housing. The drawer has a front cavity section and a rear latch section. The latch section includes a horizontally disposed resilient panel formed with an upward button which, when the drawer is closed, extends up through the opening in the top wall of the housing and forms an automatic latch, holding the drawer closed. In order to open the drawer, the button must be depressed and, at the same time, the drawer must be pulled out from the housing. The top of the housing is formed, adjacent the opening for the button, with a relief zone into which the button moves when the drawer is in dispensing position and blocks further opening.

Pour spout for containers

In this assembly the spout attachment has at the top of its vertical wall a flat annular wiper flange having an upstanding sealing bead. The flange is clamped between the top of the mouth of the bottle and the undersurface of the closure so that the bead seals against the closure and no liner is necessary in the closure. To keep the attachment from uncontrolled rotation as the closure is screwed on and off, the vertical wall of the attachment is provided with a pair of horizontally aligned closely spaced lugs which straddle an inward protrusion in the mouth of the bottle.

Closure assembly includes a lid carrier or base having a hinged lid. The top wall of the lid carrier has a sealing means surrounded by a downward alignment sleeve. The assembly is especially useful with high-speed automatic container-capping machinery, because the sleeve cooperates with the cylindrical upright neck or spout on a container to see that the closure assembly is not cocked prior to sealing and that the top of the spout makes square contact with the sealing means to assure a good seal. The sleeve is interrupted on the opposite side of the carrier from the hinge so that it does not interfere with action of a latch depending from the lid. The spout itself forms a stop for the latch so that it will not be overextended and break when it is pressed in unlatching.

This invention relates to a child-resistant dispensing closure for fitment to a container. The closure has a base portion and a cap portion hingedly connected thereto. This child-resistant features includes an elongated, flexible, resilient post which extends upwardly from the base and which has an enlarged upper end. When the cap is brought to the closed position, the elongated upper end passes through an aperture in the cap top wall and assumes a position which interferes with the opening of the cap.
