A zeolite formulation has been identified that is to be included in an arrangement of barrier layers allowing for the entrapment of volatile organoleptic compound (VOCs), in particular, odor causing VOCs, between the barrier layers in order to contain the release of these compounds. The entrapment technique allows for extended time to adsorb, absorb or react such VOCs before they can be absorbed by the product surrounded by the packaging. A zeolite formulation of an odor scavenger layer not having any VOC barrier layers within the film is also disclosed having the capability to contain the release of hydrogen sulfide over a period of at least 20 days.

Film having an oxygen scavenger and a volatile organoleptic compound scavenger

The invention discloses oxygen scavenging films having at least one oxygen scavenging layer comprising a blend of ethylene/methyl acrylate/cyclohexene methyl acrylate copolymer (EMCM) as oxygen scavenger resin and a catalyst in a carrier resin, and an outer substrate layer having a thickness greater than 5% with respect to the total thickness of the film. The invention also relates to a process for the manufacturing of such films, to the use of said films in food packaging and to the packages obtained therefrom.

Oxygen scavenging films

A film comprises a skin layer, a base layer, and an intermediate layer between the skin and base layers. The skin layer comprises polyester. The base layer comprises styrenic block copolymer having a styrene monomer content of at least about 50 wt. %. The intermediate layer comprises: (i) one or more polymers selected from alpha-olefin/cyclic-olefin copolymer and alpha-olefin/vinyl aromatic copolymer and (ii) one or more polymers selected from ethylene/unsaturated ester copolymer and styrenic block copolymer having a styrene monomer content of at most about 50 wt. %. The film has a free shrink at 100&#xb0; C. in at least one direction of at least about 10%. The film may be useful in shrink sleeve applications.

A film includes first and second outer layers, a core layer, and first and second substrate layers, each layer including a polymer; at least one of the substrate layers includes an amidic wax, and at least one of the outer layers includes an amidic wax present in an amount of 1% to 50% of the amount of wax in the first and second substrate layers respectively. The wax can be blended with a transition metal salt of stearic acid, or ester of stearic acid. Alternatively, a film includes first and second outer layers, and a substrate layer, each layer including a polymer; at least one of the first outer layer, second outer layer, and substrate layer including a blend of an amidic wax, and a transition metal salt of stearic acid, or ester of stearic acid.
