A wear assembly for attaching to a digging edge of an excavator includes a boss, a wear member and a lock. The boss is fixed to the excavator and defines a T-shaped coupling structure. The adapter includes a rearwardly extending mounting leg and a forwardly extending working end. The leg includes a T-shaped slot adapted to be received over the T-shaped structure of the boss. The adapter leg further includes an opening for receiving a lock. The lock includes an adjustment assembly for eliminating any looseness which may exist between the adapter and the boss.

Wear assembly for a digging edge of an excavator

A wear assembly for protecting a structure, such as an excavating bucket, from wear includes a lock for securing the wear member in place. The lock includes a take-up element for tightening the fit of the wear member, a latch to retain the lock in the assembly during use, and an arrangement for resisting loosening of the lock. With the assembly, the lock is able to effectively tighten the fit of the wear member on the lip, resist loosening of the fit, and facilitate easy removal of the lock without a concomitant increased risk of lock ejection.

Wear edge assembly

A wear assembly includes an adapter with a nose, a wear member with a socket to receive the nose, and a lock to secure the wear member to the adapter. The nose and socket include complementary rails and grooves that vertically diverge as they extend from the front of the nose. The lock can have a tapered construction.

Point and adapter assembly

A wear assembly to protect the front edge of an excavating bucket, which is secure, stable, easy to use, readily manufactured, and provides increased safety, and which eliminates any need for holes to be formed in the lip. The wear assembly includes a wear member that has a pair of legs to straddle the front edge of the bucket. One of the legs defines an axial slot, which has opposing grooves for receiving rails of a boss fixed to the bucket. The grooves narrow in a forward direction to permit easier installation and removal of the wear member, to permit use of side wings without interference from adjacent wear parts, and to enable enhanced resistance under some loads.

Wear assembly

A wear assembly that includes a wear member and a boss to define an opening for receiving a lock forward of the front edge face of the lip which can mount the wear member in a stable and balanced manner without a through-hole in the lip. The wear member includes an aperture and a rib to define bearing faces on opposite sides of a central plane of the lip. The boss includes rails to hold the wear member in place, and a brace at the rear end, which supports the rails on the boss, abuts the rear of the wear member to reduce the loading on the lip, and deflects earthen material away from the wear member under reverse loading.

Wear assembly for excavating digging edge

A wear assembly provided with a tapered opening and a complementary tapered lock wherein the lock can be pried into and from the opening to thereby eliminate the need for hammering. The lock is formed with a body and a latch that is movable between a hold position where the latch is engageable with a stop in the opening to releaseably retain the lock in the opening and a release position where the latch disengages the stop.

Wear member for excavating equipment

A wear assembly including an adapter, a wear member, and a lock to secure the wear member to the adapter, wherein the adapter and wear member include at least one rail and corresponding groove along the nose and socket connection that are oriented at the same general inclination as one of the converging walls of the nose.

Wear assembly for excavator digging edge

An excavating tooth for attachment to the digging edge of excavating equipment includes a wear member provided with bearing faces in a socket which extend substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tooth. The bearing faces are formed to widen significantly as they extend rearward to provide broad bearing surfaces at the rear ends of the wear member. The bearing faces are placed between the converging walls and the side walls of the socket at obtuse angles thereto to avoid areas of stress concentration. The bearing faces are further formed in a plurality of tiers to provide enhanced resistance to vertically applied loads at the front end of the member. The wear members are further secured to the adapter by locks which ease installation and removal of the wear members.

Excavating tooth

An excavating tooth for use on a wide variety of excavating equipment is comprised of a point, an adapter and a sandwich lock pin. The pin includes a rigid casing and a plurality of independently depressible protrusions. One of the protrusions resiliently engages a face defined on the nose of the adapter to tighten the connection of the point on the nose. One other of the protrusions extends into an opening defined by the point to secure the lock pin to the point. With respect to an external locking tooth, the opening defined in the point includes a pair of bosses which define a reduced portion of the opening. The reduced portion matingly receives and holds the ends of the rigid casing of the pin. The independent locking of the pin and the mating receipt of the casing in the point opening reduces the likelihood of pin loss due to overloading of the elastomeric material, wearing of the components or jacking forces.

A lock assembly for a surface subject to abrasive wear including a base element and a wear element coupled either by conforming T-shaped elements or dovetails and which includes a lock resiliently urged against an integral keeper in the base or wear element.

Lock assembly for wearable structure

A replaceable wear edge for the forward edge of an excavator such as the lip or wing and which includes a generally U-shaped wear member equipped with a generally T-shaped slot engageable with a conforming T-shaped boss on a confronting surface on the excavator, the wear member upper surface being equipped with a keeper-equipped opening for receiving a lock between the boss and wear member.

An excavating tooth point having a pin receiving opening, a cavity in the point in communication with the opening and a resilient lock for the pin in the cavity.
