An integrated magnetic core is provided. The integrated magnetic core includes a first plate and a second plate. The first plate includes a plurality of legs extending outwardly from a first surface of the first plate. The plurality of legs includes first and second oppositely disposed legs and third and fourth oppositely disposed legs. The second plate is coupled to at least the third and fourth legs of the first plate.

Integrated magnetic assemblies and methods of assembling same

An integrated magnetic assembly includes a magnetic core having a first component and a second component. The first component includes a first face and a winding leg extending from the first face. The winding leg includes a top face spaced from and oriented generally parallel to the first face. The second component is coupled to the first component and has a second face facing the first face. The second component further includes a third face recessed from and oriented generally parallel to the second face and a recess sidewall extending between the second face and the third face. The integrated magnetic assembly further includes an input winding and an output winding each inductively coupled to the magnetic core. The third face and the recess sidewall define a recess within the second face. Additionally, a gap is defined between the top face and the third face.

A buck-boost converter includes a buck-boost voltage converter circuit, an error controller and a buck-boost mode controller. The buck-boost voltage converter includes switches. The error controller is configured to provide a control signal based on a difference between an output voltage of the buck-boost voltage converter circuit and a reference voltage. The buck-boost mode controller determines switching duty cycles based on the control signal having at least three conditions: when DC is beyond a threshold value, apply one of buck regulation control and boost regulation control, where DC is a value of the control signal; when DC is not beyond and not substantially equal to the threshold value, apply the other of the buck regulation control and the boost regulation control; and when DC is substantially equal to the threshold value, apply buck-boost regulation control. The output voltage is regulated by the switching duty cycles.

Buck-boost converter and method for regulation

A power converter includes a primary side power circuit, a secondary side power circuit, and a synchronous rectifier drive circuit. The primary side power circuit includes a primary winding and a main switch coupled in series. The main switch is turned on and off in response to control signals. The secondary side power circuit includes a secondary winding, at least one synchronous rectifier switch, and an output inductor winding. The secondary winding is inductively coupled to the primary winding and forms a first magnetic coupling with the primary winding. The synchronous rectifier drive circuit includes a first and a second auxiliary winding coupled in series. The first auxiliary winding is inductively coupled to the primary winding and forms a second magnetic coupling with the primary winding. The second auxiliary winding is inductively coupled to the output inductor winding and forms a third magnetic coupling with the output inductor winding.

Drive circuit for synchronous rectifier and method thereof

A drive circuit for a synchronous rectifier, a method of driving a synchronous rectifier and a power converter incorporating the drive circuit or the method. In one embodiment, the drive circuit includes: (1) a first drive circuit stage configured to derive a timing for at least one drive signal from a secondary winding of a transformer coupled to the synchronous rectifier and (2) a second drive circuit stage, coupled to the first drive circuit stage and configured to employ a substantially stable voltage source to provide power for the at least one drive signal and apply the at least one drive signal to at least one control terminal of at least one synchronous rectifier switch in the synchronous rectifier.
