A choke may include an inlet for receiving a flow stream. The choke may also include a valve assembly configured to receive the flow stream from the inlet and control the flow stream. The valve assembly may include a cage element, an external sleeve adapted for selectively and controllably articulating over the cage element to control the flow stream through the valve, and an impact screen surrounding both the cage element and the external sleeve and adapted to protect the cage element and the external sleeve from impacts from large objects in the flow stream. The choke may also include an outlet for delivering the flow stream from the valve assembly.

Impact resistant external sleeve choke

An intermitter valve for controlling the flow rate and/or pressure of a fluid produced from a well drilled into an oil and gas reservoir includes several seals between a seat connected to the valve body and a sleeve connected to a reciprocating stem. An O-ring disposed in an inner groove of the sleeve can be used to intermittently form an elastomer-to-metal seal against the seat. An O-ring disposed in an outer groove of the seat can be used to intermittently form an elastomer-to-metal seal against the sleeve. A surface proximate to the end of the sleeve can be used to intermittently form a metal-to-metal seal against a surface of the seat. The seat and the sleeve can be part of a valve kit for converting a production choke valve into a flow shut-off device.

Intermitter valve

A multistage stacked disk choke includes a housing having a high pressure inlet port and a low pressure outlet port, an assembly, a cage, a seat, and a plug. The assembly includes: a tubular inlet port, a galley intersecting the tubular inlet port, a tubular outlet port, and a bore inward from the tubular outlet port. The cage has an inlet port in communication with the tubular inlet port. The seat is configured to support the assembly. The plug moves inside the assembly bore and restricts flow through the tubular outlet port and/or the tubular inlet port. Operation fluid flows from the high pressure inlet port through the cage inlet port into the tubular inlet port and is redirected into the galley and into the tubular outlet port into the bore of the assembly to a bore in the seat, and out through the low pressure outlet port.

Multistage stacked disc choke

A choke with reduced cavitation and/or flashing due to a high pressure fluids passing through the choke includes a housing having a high pressure inlet port and a low pressure outlet port, and a cage positioned within the housing and having a passage for passing fluid therethrough. A plurality of beads are each positioned in the cage, such that fluid flows between the cage and the beads and between the beads when passing through the cage. Fluid pressure is reduced by the fluid passing through the cage, thereby reducing cavitation.

Reduced cavitation oilfield choke

An electrically operated valve actuator with an eddy current clutch is disclosed. The use of the eddy current clutch provides an actuator that can control the rate of closing of the valve in a predetermined linear manner to avoid slamming the valve shut in an emergency shutdown.
