Laparoscopes and other medical borescopes. In some embodiments, a laparoscope may comprise an electrically conductive portion and a shield portion configured to provide electromagnetic interference shielding for the electrically conductive portion. A tip assembly may be positioned at a distal end of the laparoscope, which tip assembly may comprise an image sensor configured to take images through a distal end of the laparoscope.

Medical borescopes and related tip assemblies

Medical borescopes, such as laparoscopes. In some embodiments, a medical borescope may comprise a handle and a tube extending from the handle, which tube may be configured to reduce electromagnetic interference within the tube. The borescope may further comprise a tip assembly positioned at a distal end of the tube, which may comprise an image sensor configured to take images through the distal end of the tube. The borescope may further comprise a dongle comprising an image processor configured to receive image data from the image sensor. The dongle may be removably coupleable with the medical borescope such that the dongle can be coupled with a plurality of distinct medical borescopes.

Borescopes and related methods that are configured to preclude or minimize imaging in hazy and/or smoky conditions. In some embodiments, the borescope may comprise a shaft made up, at least in part, of a material that is electrically non-conductive material and/or thermally non-conductive, and a tip positioned at a distal end of the shaft. The tip may comprise at least one light source, such as an LED or array of LEDS, configured to deliver electromagnetic radiation in which no more than about 20% of the total spectral output is in the infrared spectrum. The electromagnetic radiation delivered from the at least one light source may comprise a spectrum having at least one of a local maximum and a global maximum between about 450 and about 495 nm. The at least one light source may be configured to deliver between about 20 and about 75 lumens of visible light.

Non-conductive borescopes and related imaging techniques

Medical borescopes and related methods. In some embodiments, a medical borescope may comprise a handle and a tube extending from the handle. The tube may be partially, or wholly, defined by an at least substantially non-conductive material, such as a suitable plastic, ceramic, or other non-metallic material. The borescope may further comprise a tip assembly positioned at a distal end of the tube, which may comprise an image sensor configured to take images through the distal end of the tube.

A camera system including an integrated coupling system configured to releasable couple the camera system with a user head accessory such as a pair of glasses, a hat, a headband, an item of jewelry, etc. The camera module may have an outer dimension smaller than three cubic inches and may further include a data coupler, battery, lens, image sensor, circuit board, and microphone. The camera module may transmit and receive data from the portable computer device including video data and on/off recording, respectively. A magnetic coupling system configured to selectively releasably couple the camera module directly with the user head accessory including magnet(s) disposed within each of the camera module and the user head accessory.

Medical borescopes and related methods. In some embodiments, a medical borescope may comprise a handle and a tube extending from the handle. Borescopes and related methods. In some embodiments, a medical borescope system may comprise a medical borescope comprising a tube comprising a first tube end and a second tube end opposite from the first tube end; a light source positioned adjacent to the first tube end and configured to generate light at the first tube end; an image sensor positioned adjacent to the first tube end. The system may further comprise a data communication link coupled with the image sensor and a dongle comprising an image processor configured to receive image data from the image sensor that is removably coupleable with the medical borescope such that the dongle can be coupled with a plurality of distinct medical borescopes. The dongle may be configured to at least one of receive and detect borescope-specific parameter data from the medical borescope, wherein the borescope-specific parameter data comprises data unique to the medical borescope.

Medical borescopes and related methods and systems

A system and method adaptively control sensitivity, on a pixel-by-pixel basis, of a digital imager. An illumination intensity level mapping controller determines a number of pixels of image data having illumination intensity levels within a first defined range of illumination intensity levels and determines an illumination intensity level mapping function based upon the determined number of pixels within the first defined range of illumination intensity levels. An exposure controller determines a number of pixels having illumination intensity levels within a second defined range of illumination intensity levels and determines an integration time based upon the determined number of pixels having illumination intensity levels within the second defined range of illumination intensity levels. A transfer control function generation circuit determines a composite transfer control function based on the determined integration time and determined illumination intensity level mapping function; determines each transition point between a plurality of discrete transfer control functions from the determined integration time and the determined illumination intensity level mapping function; and imposes the determined transfer control function upon a pixel of the digital imager.

A circuit for generating non-overlapping clock signals includes a programmable delayed reference clock signals circuit to produce a plurality of delayed reference clock signals and a plurality of delay clock signal generators, operatively connected to the programmable delayed reference clock signals circuit, to generate non-overlapping clock signals. Each delay clock signal generator includes a latch or flip-flop to control a delay in a rising edge of a clock signal and to output a first signal, another latch or flip-flop to control a delay in a falling edge of a delayed clock signal and to output a first signal, and a logic circuit to generate the clock signal from the first and second signals. The latches or flip-flops independently control a delay in the rising edge of the clock signal in response to one of the plurality of delayed reference clock signals.
