A fibrous insulation product, such as a fibrous insulation blanket or board product, includes a plurality of fibers that are entangled together and a crosslinked aromatic polymeric binder that bonds the plurality of fibers together. The fibrous insulation product includes between 80 and 99 weight percent of the fibers and between 1% by weight and 20% by weight of the crosslinked aromatic binder. The fibrous insulation product has a density of between 0.4 and 6.0 pounds per cubic foot (pcf) and an R-value of between 4 and 50. The crosslinked aromatic polymeric binder has an aromaticity of greater than 10%.

Multi-functional polyol based fiber glass binder composition

A lightweight polymer-based composite product may include a polymer material body and a lightweight filler material that is embedded in the polymer. The polymer material body may be an in-situ polymerized polymer formed via casting of a reactive resin in a mold. The polymer may have a density of at least 1.0 g/cm. The lightweight filler material may be concentrated on at least a portion of a first surface of the polymer material body. The lightweight filler material may have a density of between 0.1 and 1.0 g/cm. The lightweight polymer-based composite product may have a density that is less than a comparable product that consists mainly of the polymer.

Lightweight thermoplastic composite products and methods of making same

A polyisocyanurate foam insulation product is produced from an isocyanate component and a polyol-containing component including a blowing agent. The polyol-containing component comprises one or more polyols, a fire retardant, and a hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additive effective to increase the R-value per inch of the insulation product as measured at 40° F., as compared with an otherwise-identical formulation lacking the hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additive. The polyisocyanurate foam insulation product may have an R-value per inch of at least 6.0 when measured at 40° F. and may have an R-value per inch of at least 5.5 when measured at 25° F. Suitable hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additives may include triethanolamine, trimethylolpropane, N-methyldiethanolamine, 1,4 butanediol, or another suitable multi-functional alcohol or combination of multi-functional alcohols.

Foam insulation with improved low temperature properties using polyol additives

A roofing membrane includes a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) layer and a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) layer. The TPO layer forms a bottom layer of the roofing membrane, and the PVC layer is positioned atop the TPO layer so that the PVC layer forms a top layer of the roofing membrane. The TPO layer and the PVC layer are configured to be chemically compatible so that the TPO layer and the PVC layer are chemically bonded and function as a single roofing membrane. Compatibilizing includes at least one of (i) adding a compatibilizing agent to at least one of the TPO material and the PVC material prior to extrusion and (ii) positioning at least one compatibilizing film, prior to bonding, between the TPO material and the PVC material.

Hybrid roofing membrane and methods of making same

A system for manufacturing a thermoplastic prepreg product includes a belt or conveyor, a prepreg applicator that positions a thermoplastic prepreg atop the belt or conveyor, a foam applicator that applies a foam mixture atop the thermoplastic prepreg, a heating mechanism that heats the thermoplastic prepreg and the foam mixture to cause the foam mixture to react atop the thermoplastic prepreg, and a laminator that is configured to press the thermoplastic prepreg and foam mixture to control a thickness of the resulting thermoplastic prepreg product. The thermoplastic prepreg includes a fabric, mat, or web of fibers and a thermoplastic material that is impregnated within the fabric, mat, or web of fibers. The thermoplastic material is formed from in situ polymerization of monomers and oligomers. The foam mixture includes an isocyanate, a polyol blend, and a blowing agent.

Thermoplastic prepreg based foam product

Embodiments may include a coated granule for roofing systems. The coated granule may include an aluminum silicate granule and a coating disposed on the aluminum silicate granule. The coating may include a copolymer and a siloxane-based or a silane-based compound. The copolymer may be a cationic fluorinated (meth)acrylic copolymer. The aluminum silicate granule may have a particle size in a range from 0.2 mm to 2.4 mm. The aluminum silicate granule may have a 65% or greater reflectivity. The coated granule may repel oil and maintain its reflectivity better than with other techniques.

Hybrid coating for roof applications

Provided is a polymer blend composition comprising linear low density polyethylene, a propylene polymer generally having rubber dispersed therein, and a combination of a propylene copolymer and an ethylene copolymer. In one embodiment, there is provided a polymer blend composition comprising 15 to 75 weight percent of a propylene polymer having from 10-60% crystallinity, 30-50 weight percent of a linear low density polyethylene, and a combination of the propylene copolymer and the ethylene copolymer comprising the remainder of the composition.

Roofing compositions comprising linear low density polyethylene

Embodiments may include an insulated structure. The insulated structure may include a plurality of structural support members coupled together to form a frame. The insulated structure may also include a plurality of first wall boards attached to an exterior side of the frame to form an exterior wall or surface of the structure. The insulated structure may further include a spray foam insulation positioned within at least one of the wall cavities of the structure. The spray foam insulation may have an insulative R-value greater than or equal to 6.0 per inch at 40&#xb0; F. The spray foam formulation may be made from a formulation that includes a reaction product of a polyisocyanate compound and a polyol compound and a blowing agent. The blowing agent may include a mixture of n-pentane and isopentane, where the mixture is at least 75% isopentane.

Thermal insulation properties of polyiso foams

An insulative construction product includes a polyurethane foam core and a mixture of Aerogel and carbon black that is disposed within the polyurethane foam core. The mixture of Aerogel and carbon black includes between 90 and 99 weight percent Aerogel and between 1 and 10 weight percent carbon black. The polyurethane foam core includes between 10 and 90 percent by volume of the of Aerogel and carbon black mixture and the construction product has an R-value of at least 8.0 R/inch.

A polyisocyanurate foam insulation product is produced from an isocyanate component and a polyol-containing component including a blowing agent. The polyol-containing component comprises one or more polyols, a fire retardant, and a hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additive effective to increase the R-value per inch of the insulation product as measured at 40&#xb0; F., as compared with an otherwise-identical formulation lacking the hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additive. The polyisocyanurate foam insulation product may have an R-value per inch of at least 6.0 when measured at 40&#xb0; F. and may have an R-value per inch of at least 5.5 when measured at 25&#xb0; F. Suitable hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additives may include triethanolamine, trimethylolpropane, N-methyldiethanolamine, 1,4 butanediol, or another suitable multi-functional alcohol or combination of multi-functional alcohols.

A construction product described herein includes a fiber core that includes a plurality of entangled glass fibers. The fiber core also includes a binder that bonds the plurality of entangled glass fibers together and an Aerogel material that is homogenously or uniformly disposed within the fiber core. In some instances, the fiber core includes between 40 and 80 weight percent of the Aerogel material. The construction product has an R-value of at least 6.5 per inch, a flame spread index of no greater than 5, and a smoke development index of no greater than 20 as measured according to the ASTM E-84 tunnel test.

Aerogel containing construction board

A polyisocyanurate foam insulation product is produced from an isocyanate component, a polyol-containing component, and a blowing agent. The polyol-containing component includes a first polyol and a second polyol, a fire retardant, and one or more surfactants, wherein the first polyol and the second polyol have different hydroxyl numbers, or have different functionalities, or differ in both hydroxyl number and functionality. In some formulations, the polylol-containing component may include a fire retardant, a metallo-organinc compound, or combinations thereof. The cell size of the foam may be less than 120 microns. The polyol-containing component may include a mixture of polyols having different functionalities.
