An apparatus, method, and associated systems are provided. A plurality of anisotropic magnetoresistive sensors are arranged in an array, each anisotropic magnetoresistive sensor comprising a magnetic field transducer and a sensor signal conditioning circuit. A central processor in electrical communication with each anisotropic magnetoresistive sensor is provided. The central processor is configured to compare processed signals received from at least two of the plurality of anisotropic magnetoresistive sensors to determine a position of the magnet.

A pressure sensor includes a substrate, a first pressure sensing element, a second pressure sensing element, and sensor conditioning circuitry disposed on a first surface of the substrate. The sensor conditioning circuitry is electronically coupled to the first pressure sensing element and the second pressure sensing element, thus multiple pressure sensing elements being disposed on a single substrate can reduce material cost and improve the performance of the pressure sensor.

A sensor assembly for monitoring gas concentration and a method of the same are provided. The sensor assembly includes a start-up sensor and a long-run sensor. The start-up sensor is characterized by a first power-on period and the long-run sensor is characterized by a second power-on period that is longer than the first power-on period. The sensor assembly also includes a controller in communication with the start-up sensor and the long-run sensor. The controller is configured to cause the start-up sensor and the long-run sensor to power on. The controller is further configured to power off the start-up sensor and monitor the gas concentration via the long-run sensor upon the expiration of the second power-on period. A corresponding method of monitoring gas concentration is also provided.

Method and apparatus for fast-initialization gas concentration monitoring

A pressure sensor is provided. The pressure sensor includes a substrate, and a first pressure sensing element, a second pressure sensing element, and sensor conditioning circuitry disposed on the first surface of the substrate. The sensor conditioning circuitry is electronically coupled to the first pressure sensing element and the second pressure sensing element. The pressure sensor further includes a buffer layer disposed on the first surface of the substrate such that the first pressure sensing element is disposed on the buffer layer. Multiple pressure sensing elements disposed on a single substrate for improving the performance of the pressure sensor.

In an embodiment, a method of sensing a flow comprises performing a measurement cycle for a first period of time, powering off the at least one upstream resistive element and the at least one downstream resistive element for a second period of time, and performing another measurement cycle for a third period of time. Performing the measurement cycle comprises supplying a current to the upstream resistive element and the downstream resistive element arranged in a bridge, resistively heating the upstream resistive element and the downstream resistive element to a temperature above an ambient temperature, and detecting an imbalance in the bridge resulting from a temperature difference between the at least one upstream resistive element and the at least one downstream resistive element in response to the flow of a fluid past the flow sensor.

Airflow sensor with thermal conductivity and diffusivity sensing

An electronic device incorporating a magnet and a Hall-effect sensor to determine a location of a portion of the electronic device. The electronic device comprises a magnet mechanically coupled to a first portion of the electronic device and a Hall-effect sensor coupled to a second portion of the electronic device where the first portion and the second portion are moveable with reference to each other and where the Hall-effect sensor receives a magnetic field of the magnet. The device further comprises an electronic stage that outputs a comparison threshold signal based on peak detecting an output of the Hall-effect sensor using a long term adjustment and resetting the long term adjustment to a current output of the Hall-effect sensor in response to a short term adjustment and a switch electronic stage that switches in response to the output of the Hall-effect sensor exceeding the comparison threshold output.

A sensing system that produces a multi-dynamic range output is provided. In an illustrative embodiment, a first channel and a second channel receive an analog output signal from a sensing element. The first channel provides a first digital output signal that has a first dynamic range, and the second channel provides a second digital output signal that has a second narrower dynamic range. In some cases, the second narrower dynamic range falls within the first dynamic range, and the first digital output signal may provide a first resolution and the second digital output signal may provide a second greater resolution. The dynamic range and/or resolution of one or more of the first channel and second channel may be dynamically reconfigurable, if desired.

Multi-dynamic-range sensor

A pressure sensor assembly having a sensor unit, a pressure port, and an electrical connector. The sensor unit may include a printed circuit board (PCB), a pressure sensor, a support, and a media isolation layer. The PCB may have a first side and an opposite second side, where the pressure sensor may be secured to the first side. The support may also be secured to the first side of the PCB and may circumferentially surround the pressure sensor and/or may define a media sensing opening. The media isolation layer (e.g., a gel or other material) may be provided in the media sensing opening and encase the pressure sensor, where the media isolation layer may transfer a pressure provided by the media in the pressure port to the pressure sensor and may act as a barrier between the media and the pressure sensor.

Embodiments relate generally to methods and systems for detecting pressure. A pressure sensor assembly may comprise a sensor unit having a pressure input port on one side, the sensor unit comprising a printed circuit board; a pressure sensor secured to a side of the printed circuit board; a support secured to the side of the printed circuit board, the support circumferentially surrounding the pressure sensor and defining the pressure input port; and a media isolation layer comprising a first media isolation layer applied adjacent to the pressure sensor, and a second media isolation layer comprising a material different from the first media isolation layer located between the first media isolation layer and the pressure input port, wherein the media isolation layer is configured to transfer a pressure caused by a sense media to the pressure sensor.

An integrated circuit for implementing brushless DC motor control includes a substrate, a band gap temperature sensor, and a magnetic sensor. The substrate has a temperature output pin for connection to an external device and a magnetic sensor output pin for connection to the external device. The band gap temperature sensor is formed on the substrate and is configured to sense temperature and supply a temperature signal representative of the sensed temperature to the temperature output pin. The magnetic sensor is formed on the substrate and is configured to sense magnetic field variations and supply a sensor output signal representative thereof to the magnetic sensor output pin.

Multi-phase brushless DC motor control integrated circuit having magnetic sensor and band-gap temperature sensor formed thereon

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a temperature-compensated drive for a heating element used in a micro-bridge flow sensor. In some embodiments, the heating element may be located substantially between two temperature sensors. The two temperature sensors may be convectively coupled to the heater by a fluid ambient. When the fluid ambient is flowing, one of the temperature sensors may be upstream of the heating element, and one of the temperature sensors may be downstream. The fluid may be heated by the heating unit, and this heated fluid may then flow past the downstream temperature sensor. The two temperature sensors may be used in a Wheatstone bridge configuration. In some embodiments, an output signal of the Wheatstone bridge may be indicative of a measure of fluid flow. The temperature-compensated drive for the heating element may enhance, for example, the flow meter's disturbance rejection of ambient temperature.
