A razor blade includes a substrate with a wedge-shaped edge at a distance of forty micrometers from the sharpened tip, and a layer of diamond or diamond-like material defined by facets that have an included angle of less than seventeen degrees that has a thickness of at least twelve hundred angstroms from the sharpened tip of said substrate to a distance of forty micrometers from the sharpened tip, and an ultimate tip defined by facets that have lengths of at least about 0.1 micrometer and define an included angle of at least sixty degrees, and that defines a tip radius of less than about 400 angstroms, an aspect ratio in the range of 1:1-3:1, a hardness of at least thirteen gigapascals and an L5 wet wool felt cutter force of less than 0.8 kilogram.

Razor blade technology

A shaving system with a blade member with a cutting edge of wedge shape that is defined by main facets with an included facet angle in the range of 10.degree.-17.degree. in the region forty micrometers from the cutting edge. The blade is mounted between leading and trailing skin-engaging surfaces so that the blade tangent angle is less than 20.degree. and the interior main facet of the blade is disposed at an angle of more than 150.degree. to a reference line that extends from the cutting edge of the blade to the skin-engaging point next forward of the blade edge.

Shaving system

A hand-held electronic writing implement comprises a writing tip for marking a surface and a pressure sensor located at the writing tip for emitting a pressure signal once the writing tip contacts the writing surface. An accelerometer sensor is also located at the writing tip for sensing the acceleration of the tip over the surface and emitting an acceleration signal based on the acceleration of the tip. The pressure signals and acceleration signals are transmitted to a processing circuit located within the implement. An analog-to-digital converter is used to convert the signals into a digital code which is recorded in a recording chip within the instrument. A power source is used to power the electronics of the implement. The writing implement is used in conjunction with a receiver capable of receiving digital information such as a computer having a translating package which translates the digital information in order to determine the original markings made by the writing tip on the writing surface. The translated markings are displayed on a display and are a reproduction on the original markings. The original markings are translated and displayed only when an initialization character, which is predetermined, is marked on the writing surface by the writing tip.

Hand-held electronic writing tool

Apparatus for removing a marking from a stratum surface comprises a pellucid film in the form of a heat softenable polymeric material to be placed over a marking and a source of light energy for irradiating the marking and film to heat the marking and soften the polymeric material to thereby transfer the marking to the film. The apparatus in the form of a pen type implement provides means for energizing the light source and thereafter moving the pellucid film in single operation.

Apparatus for removing a marking from a surface

Thioxotropic Fuller's earth clay minerals which are structurally double silica chains linked together through oxygen to form double-ribbed sheets held by aluminum and/or magnesium in octahedral coordination in an amphibole chain are vacuum dried and admixed with a stabilizing fluid, e.g., silicone fluid, to result in new, low moisture content thixotropic agents. The mineral products thus produced are superior thixotropes when compounded in plastics such as plastisols, adhesive sealants, coatings and other organic binder systems which are heat set or heat cured or moisture cured, and compliance coatings. The methods involve reducing the moisture content of Fuller's earth clay, e.g., attapulgite, by (1) heating it under vacuum at an elevated temperature, preferably between 100.degree. C. and 300.degree. C., or (2) heating it at an elevated temperature, preferably between 100.degree. C. and 350.degree. C., and adding a stabilizing fluid, or (3) heating it under vacuum at an elevated temperature, preferably below 300.degree. C. and adding a stabilizing fluid, to preserve its low moisture properties.

Low moisture thixotropic agents, methods and uses

A method for producing an attapulgite clay which retains its thixotropic properties, but does not release gases upon being compounded and cured in organic binder systems, such as plastisol, and the resultant low moisture thixotrope. The method involves (1) reducing the moisture content of the attapulgite by heating it under vacuum at an elevated temperature, preferably between 100.degree. C. and 300.degree. C., or (2) reducing the moisture content of the attapulgite by heating it at an elevated temperature, preferably between 100.degree. C. and 350.degree. C., and adding a silicone fluid, to preserve its thixotropic properties.

The composition is applied to a marking to provide a film which covers the marking, and a visible corrected marking can be provided on the film by applying a pattern of color-providing material corresponding to the corrected marking to the film.

Correction compositions for correcting markings provided on the surface of a pressure-sensitive chemical recording medium carrying a developer material which comprises an acidic developer by interaction of the developer material with a color-providing material. The compositions comprise a substantially uniform dispersion of an opacifying pigment, a polymeric film-forming material, and a Lewis acid. The composition is applied to a marking to provide a film which covers the marking, and a visible correcting marking can be provided on the film by applying a pattern of color-providing material corresponding to the corrected marking to the film.
