A method of administering a shared pool of computer system resources that includes monitoring, by a first node, resources made of a first cluster having the first and second node, and where the resources use a network to communicate with each other, maintaining, by the first cluster, a record made of parameters associated with performance of the first and second node, and monitoring, by the first node, a database made of the record. The method also includes determining, by the first node, whether the parameters associated with performance of the first and second node exceeds a threshold value, responsive to the parameters exceeding the threshold value, notifying, by the first node, a control node, and notifying, by the first node, a user to check the resources when the parameters exceeds the threshold value.

Virtual machine-initiated workload management

For a first server virtual machine (VM) virtualizing a logical volume in a read/write mode for a client VM, a second server VM virtualizing the logical volume in an off mode is instantiated. The logical volume comprises a virtualization of a portion of physical storage. At the first server VM, the logical volume is deactivated, the deactivating disallowing the first server VM from performing a storage request from the client VM. At the second server VM, the logical volume is activated, the activating performed by causing the second VM to virtualize the logical volume in the read/write mode, the activating allowing the second server VM to perform the storage request.

The method also includes maintaining, by the first cluster, a record of parameters and maintaining, by the second cluster, a record of parameters. The method also includes monitoring, by the control node, a database of the records. The method also includes determining, by the control node, whether the parameter associated with write traffic between the first and third node exceeds a threshold value, and responsive to the parameter exceeding the threshold value, instructing, by the control node, the second node to be a responding node. The method also includes notifying a user to check the computer system resources when the parameter exceeds the threshold value.

Optimized high availability management using cluster-wide view

A system includes a plurality of virtual machines (VMs), a shared storage pool (SSP) configured to store health information for the plurality of VMs, and a plurality of virtual input/output servers (VIOSs) participating in the shared storage pool (SSP). Each VIOS is associated with a respective group of VMs of the plurality of VMs and is configured to receive health data for each VM of the respective group of VMs. The system also includes a health information database associated with each VIOS of the plurality of VIOSs, the health information database configured to store a subset of the health data for each VM of the respective group of VMs. Each VIOS is configured to transmit the health data for each VM of the respective group of VM to the SSP, and in parallel, store the subset of the health data in the health information database.

The computer identifies one or more weather conditions contained within the first weather information.
