An electronic device in a network capable of enhancing classification of packets received by the electronic device is provided that includes a network interface, a non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon, and a hardware processor. The hardware processor executes the instructions to receive a packet in at least one packet flow to be processed using a first service flow or a second service flow, determine whether a packet to be processed using the second service flow is incorrectly classified for processing using the first service flow, and move the incorrectly classified packet to the second service flow. A notification including data is transmitted for the incorrectly classified packet to a machine learning algorithm (MLA). The MLA is trained using the data and the trained MLA categorizes at least one new packet to be processed using the first or second service flow.

Enhancing classification of data packets in an electronic device

It is common for device coupled to a primary network to have preferential access to network resources compared to a device coupled to a guest network. However, the quality of experience (QoE) is enhanced by providing automatic switching of a client device on a guest network to a primary network. The dynamic approach switches the network connection of a client device used by a guest user/client device from a guest network to a primary network based on one or more network conditions that are associated with the guest network, the primary network, or both. Seamlessly switching the client device to the primary network, when such does not impact existing users of the primary network, enhances the network experience of the client devices initially associated with the guest network.

WiFi multi-access point-SSID monitoring and provisioning enhancements

A server device for use with a cable modem, a router, a user, a client device, and a CMTS, the cable modem and the router being able to be configured in a LAG configuration, the client device and/or the cable modem being configured to provide a notification to the user to configure the cable modem and the router into the LAG configuration, the CMTS being configured to provide a first and second service flow to the cable modem, the server device comprising: a memory; and a processor configured to execute instructions stored on the memory to cause the server device to: monitor the second set of data packets; and automatically transmit a LAG notification to the client device and/or the cable modem when the second set of data packets meets a predetermined threshold, the notification notifying the user to configure the cable modem and the router into the LAG configuration.

Reliable LLD with LAG

The customer premises equipment apparatus includes a communication component, a determining component and a filtering component. The communication component pulls a first chunk of headend guide data from a headend guide data provider using HTTP streaming. The first chunk of headend guide data contains a plurality of frames, some of which may be filler frames. The determining component determines whether at least one of the frames within the first chunk of headend guide data includes filler frames. The filtering component removes the frames that correspond to filler frames.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate dynamic port forwarding. A CPE device may be configured to dynamically modify one or more port forwarding rules based upon a detection of changes at the CPE device, one or more client devices, and/or a local network that is supported by the CPE device. In response to a steering of a client device to a network extender, the CPE device may amend port forwarding rules to forward traffic from the CPE device to the network extender for delivery to the client device. In response to a detection of a low quality parameter value for a first client device, the CPE device may amend port forwarding rules to forward traffic associated with the first client device to a second client device, wherein the second client device is identified as a device supporting interchangeable services with the first client device.

Dynamic port forwarding

An electronic device in a network capable of enhancing transmission efficiency of other electronic devices in the network is provided. The electronic device includes a network interface, a non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon, and a hardware processor. The hardware processor is configured to execute the instructions to request transmission of data from another electronic device in the wireless network. Moreover, the hardware processor is configured to execute the instructions to receive, using the network interface, the data from the other electronic device using a first protocol, and determine a condition of a transmission delay of the data. In response to determining the condition of the transmission delay, an instruction is transmitted to the other electronic device to retransmit the data using a second protocol. The data is received from the other electronic device using the second protocol.

Enhancing transmission efficiency of electronic devices in a wireless network

A network device for use with a client device and a cable modem termination system ('CMTS'), the client device being configured to run applications requiring data traffic of a first and second quality of service (“QoS”). The CMTS is configured to provide a first service flow and a second service flow to the network device. The network device provides a local area network (“LAN”) for connection to the client device and a network address translation (“NAT”). The NAT is configured to map the network device IP address to the client device IP address; divide the source ports into a first range and a low latency range; assign the respective data traffic of the applications to at least one port within the first range and to at least one port within the low latency range; and modify the low latency range of source ports based on a change in data traffic.

System to dynamically detect and enhance classifiers for low latency traffic

An apparatus, method, and computer-readable recording medium perform local client device data throttling in a wireless network. A network controller of a gateway device allocates a portion of a periodic allocation of data available from an ISP cycle to one or more client devices connected to the gateway device. The gateway device sets a threshold for each client device and monitors bandwidth data consumption for each of the client devices. When a particular client device reaches its assigned bandwidth data allotment, the gateway device throttles data to the client device until a new periodic allocation of data is available from the ISP. While a particular client device is throttled, when a guest device joins the network or a particular client device accesses a prestored URL address, the gateway device may reallocate allotted data from one client device to another as needed to maintain operation of the wireless network.

Personalized data throttling in a residential wireless network

An optimizing agent of a network device that does not support low latency DOCSIS can identify traffic or packets associated with a client resource for an optimization service flow. For example, the optimizing agent can receive a priority notification associated with a client resource from a low latency controller that is indicative of a low latency requirement associated with the client resource. The optimizing agent identifies the traffic for the optimized service flow based on the priority notification. The identifying can require modifying one or more parameters of an existing service flow, creating a new service flow, or selecting an existing service flow with low latency. The identified traffic can be routed to the optimized service flow to achieve low latency or high QoS.

Low latency for network devices not supporting LLD

An electronic device included in a network enhances the configuring of other electronic devices in the network. The electronic device includes a network interface, a non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon, and a hardware processor. The hardware processor is configured to execute the instructions to transmit a first set of configuration data to another electronic device in the network, receive a message that the other electronic device was successfully configured using the first set of configuration data, and in response to the message transmit one or more next sets of configuration data to the other electronic device. Moreover, the hardware processor is configured to execute the instructions to receive a message that the other electronic device was not successfully configured using the first set of configuration data or the one or more next sets of configuration data and implement remedial action to address the unsuccessful configuration.

Dynamic low latency routing

A network device for use with a client device and a cable modem termination system ('CMTS'), the client device being configured to run applications requiring data traffic of a first and second quality of service ('QoS'). The CMTS is configured to provide a first service flow and a second service flow to the network device. The network device provides a local area network (&#x201c;LAN&#x201d;) for connection to the client device and a network address translation (&#x201c;NAT&#x201d;). The NAT is configured to map the network device IP address to the client device IP address; divide the source ports into a first range and a low latency range; assign the respective data traffic of the applications to at least one port within the first range and to at least one port within the low latency range; and modify the low latency range of source ports based on a change in data traffic.

An electronic apparatus, method, and computer-readable medium implement smart channel selection to track client devices that connect with a LAN over time, store a historical number of client devices that connect with the LAN and a channel number on which the apparatus operated each connection with the client devices, and determine whether a number of probes/association requests on a current channel in the 5 GHz band on which the apparatus is operating is less than a predefined threshold value. When the number of probes/association requests on the current channel in the 5 GHz band on which the apparatus is operating is less than a predefined threshold value, smart channel selection is performed to select a new channel in the 5 GHz band, and the 5 GHz SSID of the apparatus is broadcasted on the new channel.

A Wi-Fi APD is configured to tag internet protocol data with a first priority level and a second priority level that is higher than the first priority level. The network controller contains a memory that contains a channel bandwidth threshold value. The network controller contains a processor configured to execute instructions that cause the network controller to: periodically poll the Wi-Fi APD; periodically receive poll responses from the Wi-Fi APD; determine whether channel bandwidth is greater than the stored channel bandwidth threshold value; determine whether the response time of the poll responses is greater than the polling period; and instruct the Wi-Fi APD to tag internet protocol data with the second priority level when at least one of the channel bandwidth is less than the channel bandwidth threshold value and the response time is greater than the period of the first frequency.

Provided is a method for optimization of data by a networking device. The method including receiving, from a server, a data packet including data for use with an application executable in a web browser at an external device, extracting data from the data packet, identifying a type of the extracted data, performing optimization of the extracted data based on the identified type of the extracted data and generating optimized data based on the optimization, reconstructing the data packet to include the optimized data, and transmitting, to the external device, the reconstructed data packet.
