An electrical connector includes: an insulative housing comprising two side walls extending along a longitudinal direction thereof and two end walls connecting with the two side walls to together define a mating slot; plural conductive terminals arranged on the side walls and having contacting portions protruding into the mating slot; a metallic shell surrounding the insulative housing and having two side plates covering the side walls and two end plates covering the end walls; and a pair of reinforcing members retained in the end walls, respectively, wherein the end wall defines a recess accommodating the reinforcing member, an inside of the reinforcing member directly faces the mating slot, and an outside of the reinforcing member is attached with the end plate.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing defining a mating slot, an inner metallic shield covering the insulative housing, and an outer metallic shield enclosing the insulative housing. The insulative housing includes a first wall, a second wall and two side walls. The inner metallic shield includes a main plate attached to the first wall and two side portions attached to the two side walls. The outer metallic shield includes a main plate located on the outer side of the main plate and two plates attached to the side portions respectively. The insulative housing is provided with grooves on the second walls. The plate is provided with a hook portion fixed in the groove. The two side portions engage the two plates.

A receptacle connector for mating with a plug connector having a mating tongue and a latch thereof, includes an insulative housing defining a mating slot extending along a longitudinal direction to receive the mating tongue of the plug connector, and an outer metallic shield defining a primary space to receive the housing and a secondary space communicatively beside the primary space to receive the latch of the plug connector. A plurality of contacts are disposed in the housing to mechanically and electrically connect to the mating tongue. An inner metallic shield is attached upon a long side of the housing to separate the primary space and the secondary space from each other in a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
