A gearmotor assembly includes a housing, a rotatable shaft, a bearing, a retaining member, and a seal. The housing defines a gear chamber configured to contain a lubricant. The bearing rotatably supports the shaft. The bearing is disposed between the housing and the shaft. The retaining member at least in part restricts axial shifting of the bearing. The retaining member presents a plurality of retaining member threads. The housing defines a plurality of housing threads threadably engaging the retaining member threads. The retaining member and the housing cooperatively at least in part define an interface. The interface includes a threaded portion and an additional portion. The threaded portion is cooperatively defined by the retaining member threads and the housing threads. The additional portion is fluidly interconnected to the threaded portion. The seal is disposed along the interface to prevent lubricant escaping the gear chamber past the interface.

A blower motor assembly includes a blower wheel and a motor. The blower wheel includes an integrally formed hub. The motor includes a shaft rotatable about an axis. The hub presents a radially inner hub surface that at least in part defines a hub opening. The inner hub surface defines an inner cross-sectional dimension. The shaft is axially received within the hub opening, such that the blower wheel is supported by the shaft for rotational movement. The shaft includes a toothed region defining a plurality of arcuately spaced apart teeth. Each of the teeth includes a cutting edge. The teeth present an outer cross-sectional dimension that is great than the inner cross-sectional dimension of the inner hub surface, such that the cutting edges of the teeth cut a plurality of grooves in the inner hub surface as the shaft is axially received in the hub opening.

A drying device has been developed having a single electric motor configured to drive a drum and directly drive an air blower. The single electric motor is a non-line frequency electric motor. The drum is coupled to a support frame to enable rotation of the drum relative the support frame. The drum has an interior space for holding a load of articles, such as clothing. The motor includes a controller configured to regulate the angular velocity of the output shaft of the motor with reference to the current drawn by the motor.

Dryer motor and control

A mounting cap is provided for use with an insulated stator of an outer rotor motor. The mounting cap is configured to support the stator and is fixed to the stator to prevent relative rotation therebetween. The mounting cap includes mounting structure configured to fix the mounting cap to the machine, such that the stator is fixed to and supported on the machine by the mounting cap. Furthermore, the mounting cap is configured to facilitate routing of wiring associated with the stator.

A stator or rotor of an electric motor or generator comprises a core formed of ferromagnetic material having a plurality of teeth arranged circumferentially about an axis. In one aspect of the invention, at least one retaining member connects the end portions of at least two of the teeth to each other in a manner inhibiting relative movement between said tooth end portions. By inhibiting relative movement between said tooth end portions, vibration is reduced. Vibration can also be reduced by welding interior surfaces of a core to each other. Reducing the vibration reduces the noise emissions of the rotor or stator during operation.

A motor and method of assembly of a motor having a stator core and at least a first end shield. The method includes selecting a bearing cap from one of a plurality of bearing caps. Each of the plurality of bearing caps has a different bearing cap length and is dimensioned for attachment to the first end shield. The bearing cap is selected from the plurality of bearing caps as a function of a width of the stator core. The invention is also a motor system that includes a stator core selected from a plurality of stator cores and a bearing cap selected from a plurality of bearing caps. Each of the plurality of stator cores has a different stator core width and each of the plurality of bearing caps has a different bearing cap length. The bearing cap is selected as a function of a width of the selected stator core.

A motor shaft bearing assembly restricts the pivoting or swiveling movement of a self-aligning bearing supporting a motor shaft in a bearing seat. The bearing assembly provides projections adjacent the bearing seat that engage with an exterior surface of the bearing to restrict the movement of the bearing relative to the bearing seat. As an alternative or in addition to the projection adjacent to the bearing seat, a bearing retainer holding the bearing against the bearing seat is provided with a projection that engages into the exterior surface of the bearing to restrict the movement of the bearing relative to the bearing seat.

A vibration absorber is provided for reducing noise and vibration emanating from an electric motor, or another vibrating object, and the surrounding structure to which it is mounted. The vibration absorber has a beam with a mass secured thereto. The vibration absorber is mounted externally to the motor, in a direction perpendicular to an axis of torsional vibration of the motor. The absorber is tuned to have a resonant frequency corresponding to the torsional vibrational frequency of the motor.

An AC induction motor assembly includes first and second endshields at least one of which is of special construction for reducing material costs. The motor assembly includes a stator assembly and a rotor assembly having an associated rotor shaft, which are mounted between and supported by the endshields. The endshields are of a skeletal construction and include a plurality of truss members which are so configured as to permit the endshields to be made of different materials while retaining the same configuration. The truss members include two rails parallel with one another and oriented generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor shaft, and a web extending between the rails, integral with them.
