A shock awareness system including a shock detector for measuring an electrical condition in a body of water and a remote station in communication with the shock detector with the shock awareness system displaying a measured electrical condition in the body of water in relation to a known hazardous electrical condition in the body of water to enable an operator to determine a level of danger in a body of water.

A shock detector having an electrical detector having a set of water immersible electrodes for detecting hazardous water conditions through the determination of the presence of either an electrical current in a body of water, a voltage in the body of water or a voltage gradient in the body of water and then providing an alert to the existence of hazardous electrical conditions in the body of water which in some cases may transmitted to a power source to shut off a power source thereby removing the hazardous water condition.

A shock detector for determining the existence of a voltage gradient in a body of water, which may be remote from a structure and providing an alarm when the voltage gradient is a hazardous electrical condition that could injure or kill a person coming into contact with the body of water.

A method and apparatus for forming a blind connection between a first wire and a second wire where each of the wires are inserted into a sleeve with the first wire laterally inserted into the sleeve for positioning along the first wire and the second wire axially inserted through the sleeve and into engagement with a stop located outside the sleeve to ensure that the second wire is properly positioned in the sleeve before an unseen electrical connection is formed between the first wire and the second wire.

A wire connector for connecting and maintaining a branch wire connected to a main uncut wire during handling of the wire connector and without cutting the main wire by laterally inserting the main uncut wire into a laterally open wire port in a piston sleeve and extending a cut end of a branch wire through an offset wire guide on the exterior of the wire connector and then reversing the branch wire direction to form a slack loop in the branch wire before inserting the end of the branch wire into a further wire port in the piston sleeve.

A shock detector system for determining the existence of a harmful electrical condition in a body of water proximate a first shock detector or a second shock detector with the first shock detector providing a danger signal if the harmful electrical condition proximate the first shock detector could injure or kill a person coming into contact with the body of water proximate the first shock detector and the second shock detector providing a caution signal if there is no harmful electrical condition detected by the second shock detector even though there is a harmful electrical condition proximate the first shock detector.

A two-gang insulation displacement connector with enhanced electrically connectivity and a method of making the two-gang insulation displacement connector with the insulation displacement connector having a first gang of wire engaging blades having at least two sets of wire engaging blades, which are laterally spaced from each other, and a second gang of wire engaging blades with at least two sets of wire engaging blades with a base of each set of the wire engaging blades in the first gang having a link connecting to a base of each of a set of wire engaging blades in the second gang so that insertion of an insulation covered wire into wire engaging blades of each of gangs forms multiple electrical connections between the wire engaging blades of each gang of the wire engaging blades. In one embodiment the two-gang connector is located in a cover with the open ends of the wire engaging member extending outward for engagement with a housing having a blade guide so that the bringing the cover into engagement with the housing brings the electrical wires into contact with each other while maintaining the gangs in a spaced condition. The cover may include cross protrusions for engagement with cover engagement channels in the housing for locking the cover to the housing. The housing may include axial rails to maintain the cover in axial alignment as the cover and the housing are brought to a closed condition around a set of wires extending into a set of side ports in the housing.

A field friendly wire connector for on-the-go connecting insulation coated electrical wires to each other without having to remove the wire insulation coating from either of the wires and without having to cut the wires with the wire connector including a flexible electrical conductor mounted in a connector base and a pair of slotted pivot arms sandwiching the flexible electrical conductor therein as the slotted pivot arms push the electrical wires into electrical contact with the electrical connector and a dual mode housing that forms a hand grip when attached to a first side of the connector base to provide a hand grip or support to the wire connector during formation of electrical connections and when the dual mode housing is attached to an opposite side of the connector base the dual mode housing forms a protective covering over the electrical connections.

Insulation displacement wire connectors

A connector with a dip-molded housing and a method for forming a twist-on wire connector with a dip-molded housing. To dip-mold a covering or housing on a twist-on wire connector either a mandrel carrying a twist-on wire coil, a mandrel having the a shape of a spiral coil or a twist-on wire connector are dipped into a bath of an in situ solidfiable dip-moldable material such as liquid plastic. The dip-moldable solidified material solidifies to form a dip-molded shell on the wire connector.
