A cloth cutting machine having a base mounted on at one end of an upright standard, and a motor mounted on the other end of that standard. A cloth cutting knife is connected to the standard, and is driven by the motor. A handle connected to the machine is manually gripped by the machine's operator to guide it during use. An air handler device connected to the machine is structured, in preferred form, to direct cooling air against the machine operator's hand which manually grips the handle. Also in preferred form, the cooling device includes a cooling air distribution manifold defined in the standard, that manifold having a hand air port at one end oriented to direct cooling air toward the handle, and a base air port at the other end which exhausts cooling air substantially rearwardly from the standard relative to the cutting direction of the machine so as to cool the standard.

Air cooled cloth cutting machine

An improved loin puller (10) for trimming the back fat (34) from a loin (32) and from a rib portion (37) which are attached to a carcass half (3o) by using an automated system having a variable width and depth of cut. A frame (12) is provided to support the individual components of the improved loin puller (10) a selected distance above a support surface (38). A conveyor belt (50) is provided for conveying the carcass half (30) toward a cutting blade (76). Loin and rib engagement chains (56, 57) are provided for pulling the loin (32), ribs (37), and associated back fat (34) toward and across the cutting blades (76,158) which are provided for separating the loin (32) and ribs (37) from the back fat (34). selectively controlling the depth of cut. A cutting width adjustor (22) is provided for selectively varying the width of the cut without substantially varying the depth of the cut. A cutting blade heater ( 28) is provided for heating each of the cutting blades (76,158) to soften the fat being cut and thus ease the cutting pressure required. A second conveyor belt (118) may be provided for supporting and conveying the front portion of the carcass half (36). A stationary support shelf (154) may alternatively be provided for supporting the front portion of the carcass half (154).

Loin puller

An improved loin puller (10) for trimming the back fat (34) from a loin (32) which is attached to a carcass half (30) by using an automated system having a variable width and depth of cut. A frame (12) is provided to support the individual components of the improved loin puller (10) a selected distance above a support surface (38). A conveyor belt (50) is provided for conveying the carcass half (30) toward a cutting blade (76). Loin engagement chains (56) are provided for pulling the loin (32) and associated back fat (34) toward and across the cutting blade (76). The cutting blade (76) is provided for separating the loin (32) from the back fat (34). A cutting depth adjuster (20) is provided for selectively controlling the depth of cut. A cutting width adjustor (22) is provided for selectively varying the width of the cut without substantially varying the depth of the cut. A cutting blade heater (28) is provided for heating the cutting blade (76) to soften the fat being cut and thus ease the cutting pressure required. A second conveyor belt (118) may be provided for supporting and conveying the front portion of the carcass half (36). A stationary support shelf (154) may alternatively be provided for supporting the front portion of the Carcass half (154).

A high speed evacuation chamber packaging machine (10) and method is provided. The machine (10) includes a frame (12) which carries a plurality of stations (18). Each station (18) includes a platen (32) which faces upwardly and carries the bagged product during the evacuation operations. A hood (34) is associated with each platen and is selectively operable between an open position for loading and unloading the bag product and a closed position which defines an evacuation chamber (34) with the platen. Means are provided for selectively evacuating and reducing the vacuum level within the chamber (36) containing the bagged product and for selectively evacuating the bag itself to a preselected level which has a lower pressure than the pressure within the chamber. A device (84) for sealing and trimming the bag subsequent to the evacuation is also provided and carried along a path of travel similar to the travel of the bag position on a station platen.

High speed evacuation chamber packaging machine and method

A high speed evacuation chamber packaging and clipping machine for the high speed evacuation and positive sealing of filled, flexible receptacles such as thermoplastic bags in order to preserve the contents of the receptacle. A first endless conveyor carries a plurality of bagged product carrying platens. The first conveyor conducts the platens along a horizontal path of travel with the platens facing upwardly. A second conveyor carries a plurality of hoods. The second conveyor conducts the hoods between and along upper and lower paths of travel and is so located with respect to the first conveyor that when each hood is shifted from its upper path of travel to its lower path of travel, it will engage one of the platens traveling in its horizontal path of travel to form a chamber therewith. Means are provided in association with each chamber for evacuating the chamber. Means are also provided in association with each chamber for applying a clip to the bag to close the bag about the product. Means are provided in association with each chamber to trim the excess of the bag following clipping. Finally, means are provided to devacuate each chamber after the bag has been clipped and trimmed. The second conveyor is so configured that when each hood is shifted from the lower path of travel to the upper path of travel it disengages from its respective platen, exposing the clipped and trimmed bagged product on the platen for further processing.
