A display apparatus includes a first base substrate (BS), a second BS facing the first BS, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first BS and the second BS, a color filter layer, pixel electrodes, a light-shielding column spacer, a common electrode, and trap electrodes. The first BS includes a display area and a non-display area. The color filter layer is disposed on the first BS in the display area. The pixel electrodes are disposed on the color filter layer. The light-shielding column spacer is disposed on the first BS in the non-display area and includes a light-shielding material. The common electrode is disposed on the second BS and faces the pixel electrodes. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the common electrode and the pixel electrodes. The trap electrodes are disposed on a lower portion of the light-shielding column spacer and face the common electrode.

A display substrate includes a base substrate having a plurality of pixel areas and a pixel electrode in a pixel area of the plurality of pixel areas. The pixel electrode a first stem portion extending in a first direction, a second stem portion extending from the first stem portion in a second direction that intersects the first direction, a plurality of branch portions diagonally extending from at least one of the first stem portion and the second stem portion, and a bent portion extending from at least one of the plurality of branch portions.

Display substrate and liquid crystal display device including the same

Provided is a display device including a display substrate, an opposite substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The display substrate has a plurality of pixel areas and a first side curved along a first direction. The opposite substrate faces the display substrate and is coupled to the display substrate to be curved along the first direction. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the display substrate and the opposite substrate. In each of the plurality of pixel areas, a plurality of domains are arranged in a second direction intersecting with the first direction, and a side of at least one of the plurality of domains is tilted with respect to the first side.
