Display device and operation method thereof

A display device according to an embodiment may include a controller and a display unit. The controller may perform tone mapping for adjusting luminance of input image data, and the display unit may display an image according to output image data whose luminance is adjusted by the tone mapping. The controller may generate a base mapping curve for an entire region from the input image data, extract information for each local region of the entire region, and generate a local mapping curve reflecting the information for each local region with respect to each local region to perform tone mapping.

Provided is a display device including a controller and a display. The controller may perform tone mapping for adjusting luminance of input image data, and the display may display an image according to an output image data, in which luminance is adjusted by the tone mapping. The present invention discloses a multimedia device for processing a video signal and control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the multimedia device includes a controller configured to perform tone mapping, a dynamic contrast function, and a local contrast function. The controller performs the tone mapping not only on an HDR video signal but also on an SDR video signal. When performing the tone mapping on the SDR video signal, the controller amplifies only an intermediate-gradient region without adjusting low-gradient and high-gradient regions. When performing the dynamic contrast function, the controller only an intermediate-gradient region of the video signal without adjusting low-gradient and high-gradient regions. When performing the local contrast function, the controller divides the video signal into blocks, calculates an APL value of each block, and then applies a linear curve based on the APL value.

Multimedia device for processing video signal and control method thereof

A display device in one embodiment includes a flexible substrate, a back plate disposed under the flexible substrate to support it, a conductive layer disposed on at least one surface of the back plate, and a printed circuit board connected to one side of the flexible substrate. The conductive layer is electrically connected to the printed circuit board and receives a constant voltage applied thereto. Therefore, by applying the constant voltage to the conductive layer, it is possible to reduce the polarization occurring on the flexible substrate.
