There is provided a plasma display device using a driving device for supplying driving signals to a plasma display panel (PDP). In a sustain falling period that at least partially overlaps the rising period of reset signals supplied to scan electrodes formed on the PDP, a voltage supplied to sustain electrodes is gradually reduced and a positive polar voltage is supplied to address electrodes. In driving the PDP, gradually falling signals are supplied to the sustain electrodes in the rising period of the reset signals so that the driving margin of the PDP can be secured. The positive polar voltage is supplied to the address electrodes so that initialization discharge can be stably performed and that the erroneous discharge of the plasma display device can be reduced.

Plasma display device

The present invention relates to a method of driving a plasma display panel and a plasma display apparatus employing the same. In the plasma display apparatus, a plurality of scan electrodes formed in a plasma display panel are divided into first and second groups and then supplied with scan signals. When a scan bias voltage supplied in a first subfield of first and second subfields is higher than that supplied in a second subfield of the first and second subfields, a lowest voltage of a reset signal supplied in the second subfield is higher than that supplied in the first subfield. In accordance with the plasma display apparatus of the present invention, the lowest voltage of the reset signal is controlled according to the scan bias voltage in dividing the plurality of scan electrodes into two or more groups and driving them. Accordingly, an address erroneous discharge due to the loss of wall charges can be reduced, the occurrence of spots can be prevented and therefore the image quality of a display image can be improved.

Method of driving plasma display panel and plasma display apparatus employing the same

The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus and, more particularly, to a method of driving a plasma display panel. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a plurality of scan electrodes and sustain electrodes formed on an upper substrate, and a plurality of address electrodes formed on a lower substrate, and a driver for supplying driving signals to the plurality of electrodes. The plurality of scan electrodes are divided into first and second groups and then supplied with scan signals, and scan bias voltages supplied to the first and second groups in at least any one period of an address period are different from each other. In at least one of a plurality of subfields constituting one frame, a width of a first sustain signal of a plurality of sustain signals supplied during a sustain period is larger than a width of each of the remaining sustain signals.

Method of driving plasma display panel and plasma display apparatus thereof

Provided is a plasma display apparatus. The apparatus includes a plasma display panel having a plurality of discharge cells, and time-division driven by dividing a unit frame into a plurality of subfields, and a driver for supplying a reset signal for initializing the plurality of discharge cells to a scan electrode of the panel in a reset period. The driver supplies gradually rising setup signals to the scan electrode in reset periods of the plurality of subfields. An average slope of the setup signal supplied in a first subfield among the plurality of subfields is different from an average slope of the setup signal supplied in a second subfield.

Plasma display apparatus

An apparatus for driving a PDP is capable of controlling a scan reference voltage when set up pulses are supplied to scan electrodes Yto Ym in a set up period of a reset period and when the scan reference voltage is supplied to the scan electrodes in an address period to reduce the generation of noise. The apparatus for driving the PDP comprises scan electrodes, a scan reference voltage supply comprising a resistance for applying a scan rising waveform that rises to a scan reference voltage with a second slope to the scan electrodes after a rising ramp waveform and a falling ramp waveform having a first slope have been applied to the scan electrodes, and a negative scan voltage supply for applying a negative scan pulse that falls from the scan reference voltage applied by the scan reference voltage supply to the scan electrodes.

A plasma display apparatus and a method of driving the same are disclosed. The plasma display apparatus includes a driver supplying a first signal and a second signal to a scan electrode during a reset period of at least one of a plurality of subfields of a frame. The first signal gradually rises from a first voltage to a second voltage with a first slope, and then falls from the second voltage to a third voltage with a second slope. The second signal rises from the third voltage to a fourth voltage, and then gradually rises from the fourth voltage to a fifth voltage with a third slope.

According to the plasma display apparatus and the method of driving the same, when a plasma display panel (PDP) displays a screen with one frame comprised of a plurality of sub-fields including reset periods, different reset pulses are supplied to a first scan electrode and a second scan electrode in the reset period of an arbitrary sub-field among the plurality of sub-fields.
