A three-dimensional (3D) image display apparatus includes a display panel configured to display a 3D image; a light guide panel disposed on a rear surface of the display panel to emit light to the display panel; a first light source configured to irradiate light toward the light guide panel; a second light source configured to irradiate light toward the light guide panel; and a controller configured to control the first light source and the second light source to emit light alternately, wherein the light guide panel includes a first pattern which responds to the first light source and does not respond to the second light source, and a second pattern which responds to the second light source and does not respond to the first light source.

The backlight unit includes a first light guide plate and a second light guide plate, wherein the first light guide plate includes a plurality of first diffusion units that are aligned to be spaced apart from each other, and the second light guide plate includes a plurality of second diffusion units that are aligned alternately with the first diffusion units. Thus, an emission direction of light is controlled, so that a 3D image may be displayed in a plurality of viewing zones.

A reflective type display device is provided, and includes a drive layer that includes pigment particles containing at least two colors of pigments, and transparent electrodes provided on a top surface and a bottom surface of drive layer, respectively, so as to drive the pigment particles.
