Digital broadcast transmission/reception apparatus for rapid channel change

A packet type retransmission system for DMB services includes a DMB device for receiving multimedia data from a content provider, for converting the multimedia data to DMB data for DMB transmission, and for transmitting the DMB data. A broadcasting transfer medium transfers the DMB data transmitted through the DMB device. A DMB-IP converter receives the DMB data transferred through the broadcasting transfer media and converts the DMB data to packet based data. An IP based multimedia transmitting device outputs the packet based multimedia data converted through the DMB-IP converter to user devices.

Packet type retransmission system for DMB service and retransmission device of DMB terminal

Disclosed is a method for extracting a region-of-interest of a user in a multimedia mobile terminal. The method includes: setting a search region in an input picture input to the multimedia mobile terminal on a screen picture-to-screen picture basis, and extracting a group of boundary of a region-of-interest based on a brightness difference between the set search region and an environment around the set search region; determining boundary coordinates of the region-of-interest through learning during a predetermined frame among the extracted group of boundary coordinate candidates; and enlarging the region-of-interest having the determined boundary coordinates, and displaying the enlarged region-of-interest. As a result, a region the user is most interested in or pays more attention to than other regions on a screen is automatically extracted. Accordingly, it is possible for users to view pictures in such an efficient manner as to provide the users with an even better experience and understanding during viewing.

Extraction method of an interest region for multimedia mobile users

Provided are methods and apparatuses for coding a motion vector by a multimedia image codec. The method including: calculating and storing difference vectors which represent differences between adjacent motion vectors of image data; selecting a central axis of the stored difference vectors based on trend information of the difference vectors; transforming the difference vectors based on the central axis of the difference vectors; and performing bit coding using the axis-transformed difference vectors.

Coding method and coding apparatus

A system and method for performing a handover of a mobile station (MS) by considering Quality of Service (QoS) in a broadband mobile communication system. The method can include the steps of: receiving information about one or more neighbor base stations and reception strengths for the neighbor base stations from a Serving Radio Access System (RAS) currently communicating with the MS; extracting a value of a specific field from the received information about the neighbor base stations; combining the extracted value of the specific field with the reception strengths to thereby obtain combined values, and selecting a maximum value among the combined values; and transmitting a handover (handoff) request message to a base station corresponding to the selected maximum value. The system includes an MS that analyzes information about neighbor stations received in a Mobile Neighbor Base-station Advertisement (MOB_NBR_ADV) message to select a target RAS.

Retransmission apparatus using IP multicasting method for DMB service

A retransmission apparatus is provided that uses a packet method for a DMB service and includes: a DMB receiver for receiving DMB data from a medium; a DMB transmission mode release unit that outputs an MPEG-2 TS by releasing a DMB transmission mode in the DMB data received from the DMB receiver; a channel information extractor that extracts channel information contained in a Fast Information Channel (FIC) of the DMB data in the DMB transmission mode release process of the DMB transmission mode release unit; a data information extractor that receives the MPEG-2 TS from the DMB transmission mode release unit and extracts data information indicating a location of an elementary stream from the received MPEG-2 TS; a channel information database (DB) that stores the channel information extracted by the channel information extractor and the data information extracted by the data information extractor as channel data; a first IP streamer that IP-streams the MPEG-2 TS output from the data information extractor; and a second IP streamer that IP-streams the channel data stored in the channel information DB.

Retransmission apparatus using packet method for DMB service

In a digital broadcasting system comprising a server for retransmitting a digital broadcast on the basis of an Internet protocol (IP), a user terminal for receiving the digital broadcast on the basis of the IP, and a router for connecting the server with the user terminal, the server performs a method for providing the broadcasting channel information that includes the steps of dividing a broadcasting stream to be transmitted to the user terminal into the broadcasting channel information and other information excluding the broadcasting channel information by demultiplexing the broadcasting stream and extracting the broadcasting channel information from the divided broadcasting stream, converting the extracted broadcasting channel information into IP-based broadcasting channel information by inserting the Internet protocol information for each broadcasting channel into the extracted broadcasting channel information, and remultiplexing the IP-based converted broadcasting channel information and the other information and transmitting the remultiplexed information to the user terminal.
