An apparatus and a method capable of receiving digital broadcasting without image discontinuity during channel switching. A digital multimedia broadcasting receiver buffers a previous channel while a new channel is buffered in a deinterleaver, thereby preventing image discontinuity during channel switching. The digital broadcasting receiver receives and deinterleaves broadcast data of a channel to be changed and stores the deinterleaved broadcast data in a buffer when a broadcast channel change is requested. The digital broadcasting receiver outputs and displays broadcast data of an initial channel stored in the buffer and stops output of the broadcast data of the initial channel and outputs the broadcast data of the channel to be changed, when the broadcast data of the channel to be changed are stored in the buffer by a predetermined buffering size.

An apparatus and method for supplying information so that power consumption in a digital broadcast receiving terminal can be reduced and a user can use an appropriate antenna depending on a situation. The digital broadcast receiving terminal includes an external antenna detachably assembled with the outside of the terminal a switch unit for selecting any one among the internal antennas and the external antenna, and a signal-receiving condition sensing unit capable of sensing the signal-receiving condition of the internal antennas and the external antenna. If it is impossible to receive the digital broadcast signal by using the internal antennas, the external antenna is used. If the external antenna is mounted, power is supplied only to an RF unit connected to the external antenna and the power supply to the remaining RF unit is cut off, reducing power consumption.

Apparatus and method for selecting an antenna in a digital broadcast receiving terminal

A digital frequency modulator is disclosed. In the digital frequency modulator, a first gain controller multiplies an input digital signal by a first gain determined according to a required modulation frequency, a phase accumulator accumulates the input digital signal and generates a phase accumulation according to a required phase resolution to output the phase accumulation within a predetermined output range. A second gain controller multiplies the output of the phase accumulator by a second gain determined according to the required modulation frequency and the first gain. A demultiplexer receives a digital multimedia signal and separates it into an audio signal and a video signal. A decoder decodes the audio and video signals and provides the decoded audio signal to the speaker and the decoded video signal to a display. A controller discontinues decoding the audio signal and outputs the voice signal from the audio processor through the speaker, if a voice call request is generated during receiving of the digital multimedia signal.

There is provided a digital data receiver for recovering at least one message word signal from a digital data frame. A method for recovering at least one message word signal from a digital data frame is also disclosed.

A power measurement means for a mobile station for measuring transmission power of a base station in an asynchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) communication systems using diversity techniques is disclosed. The power measurement means comprises scramble code generators for generating scramble codes which are allotted to each said base station, multipliers for despreading the received pilot channel signals that are spread by the scramble codes, integrators for obtaining amplitudes of the signals by integrating the despread pilot channel signals for each slot period of the pilot symbols, and outputting the amplitudes at the end time of each slot period, squarers for obtaining the power value of the signal by squaring the amplitudes, delay means for delaying the power value one slot period, an adder for adding the power value output from said squarer and the power value provided by said delay means, and switches for connecting to the adder at the end time of every two slots.

A channel compensator for estimating and for compensating a phase change and a residual frequency offset of a despreaded signal, prior to synchronous demodulation in a DS-CDMA receiver. In the channel compensator, a first integrator accumulates input signals sampled at a given chip rate for a predetermined period and multiplies the accumulated value by a given gain. A shift register having a plurality of registers shifts the data output from the first integrator. A second integrator integrates the data generated at once from the respective registers of the shift register. A delay means delays the input signal for a predetermined time, and a multiplier multiplies the delayed input signal by an output of the second integrator in order to generate the compensated signal. The delay device delays the input signal by a time required for the input signal to reach a central register of the shift register through the first integrator. The second integrator includes a summer means for summing the values of the respective registers of the shift register at an update period of the first integrator, and a multiplier for multiplying a value output from the summer means by a reciprocal number of the number of the registers to reduce the dispersion of an estimation value due to noises, and for adjusting a bit value for detected information.
