An information handling system display monitor transitions between flat and curved configurations by actuation of a shaped memory alloy wire within the display monitor housing. For example, a nickel titanium wire is heated by application of current across the wire to transition its crystalline form, thereby shortening the wire to adjust the configuration of a foldable display film, such as an OLED display film. Separate shaped memory alloy wires may be used to achieve foldable display film movement in each direction, or actuation of a shaped memory alloy wire in one direction may generate bias in a spring in the opposite direction that is released when a change in foldable display film configuration is desired.

A monitor includes a metallic edge piece and a downlight module. The edge piece provides a contact surface to receive touch inputs for a touch sensor. Systems and methods are disclosed for a light cover that may include a blocking portion configured to block a light emitted from a light-emitting diode, the blocking portion having a first shape associated with a heated state in which the blocking portion extends vertically in parallel with a lower portion of an optical sheet, the first shape configured to minimize a gap between the lower portion of the optical sheet and the blocking portion; a mounting portion configured to contact a bottom portion of a cover bottom of the display, the mounting portion extending orthogonally from the blocking portion; and a plurality of mounting pegs disposed on interior portions of the mounting portion, each of the plurality of mounting pegs configured to removably couple the mounting portion of the light cover to the bottom portion of the cover bottom.

A display couples a display panel over a light guide plate in a sharp edge housing by adapting the light guide plate side to have a beveled surface that fits along its perimeter into a reduced depth of the housing. The light guide plate beveled surface has angled sides relative to the light guide plate illumination side and reflective side to fit against parallel sides formed in the housing as the housing narrows towards its base where the light guide plate couples. A diffusive pattern formed in the light guide plate reflective surface that directs light towards the illumination surface extends onto the light guide plate side beveled surface.

An information handling system peripheral display provides backlight to a liquid crystal display panel through a light guide plate with illumination from a light emitting diode package having plural evenly spaced light emitting diodes disposed in a spaced relationship along one side of the light guide plate. For insert molded coupling devices, a midframe structure integrates spacers at opposing ends of the bottom side of the light guide plate to maintain the spaced relationship without any additional intervening structures between the light emitting diode package and light guide plate along the bottom side between the opposing ends.

A LED switching system, including a multi-chip LED including first and second sets of LED chips, the first set of LED chips associated with a first wavelength band and the second set of LED chips associated with a second wavelength band; a first LED driver in communication with the first set of LED chips; a second LED driver in communication with the second set of LED chips; a LED controller configured to: receive input indicating a selection of one of the wavelength bands; identifying one of the first set and the second set of LED chips associated with the selected wavelength band; and providing a signal to one of the first and the second LED drivers that is in communication with the identified set of LED chips; wherein, in response to the signal, the one of the first and the second LED drivers activates the identified set of LED chips.
