An image processing method of coloring an image with colors of well harmonized or matched group. Plural color groups, each including plural grouped colors and giving an individually different mental effect or impression, are stored in a memory, and a specified color group is selected from the stored plural color groups to color the image with colors included in the thus selected color group. Also provided is a system for the practice of the method described above. The system comprises image display means for displaying a colored image, memory means for storing plural color groups, each including plural grouped colors and giving an individually different mental effect or impression, area input means for defining one or more areas to be colored with desired colors, color input means for selecting a specified color group from the plural color groups and designating particular colors included in the thus selected color group, and coloring processor means for coloring the areas with the particular colors designated through the color input means.

Thus, it becomes possible to select the pen to be pressed by the hammer through the movement of relative position between the bases effected by the lock mechanism.

Disclosed is a pen type recording device for performing recording by relative movements of pen means and recording paper in the state where the tip end of a pen is brought into contact with the recording paper, which comprises a pen holding member for holding the pen in such a manner that the pen can project toward the recording paper, and a rotary lift member rotatably supported on the pen holding member to lift up the rear side of the pen held on the pen holding member by the rotation thereof. In this pen type recording device, the operation of exchanging pen is greatly facilitated, and movement of pen holding means across a recording paper can be performed very smoothly.

Disclosed is a pen type printing apparatus having a reduced size and weight suitable for use in combination with a personal computer or the like. The apparatus has a paper feed roller adapted to be driven by a motor. Two short roller shafts are arranged at each axial end of the paper feed roller so as to extend in parallel with the latter. These roller shafts rotatably carry respective pressing rollers of small diameters. The roller shafts are biased toward the paper feed roller to bring the pressing rollers into pressure contact with both axial end portions of the paper feed roller to clamp a printing paper therebetween. A carriage is movable transversely of the printing paper and carries a pen which is projectable selectively. Any desired character, symbol or a chart can be printed on the substantially mid-portion of the printing paper where no pressing roller exists, by a combination of the shifting of the carriage, feed of the paper and the projection of the pen, in accordance with a printing instruction.

A pen type recording device for recording data in any of several colors has a carriage having a rotary drum and movable across the surface of the recording paper through a printing region and a pen-selecting region. The rotary drum carries a plurality of pens arranged on its periphery and cam means mounted on the rotary drum and provided with feed teeth adapted to engage a stationary projection in such a manner that when the carriage is in the printing region, the rotary drum cannot rotate and when the carriage is in the pen-selecting region, the drum can be rotated by reciprocating the carriage to bring a selected pen into printing position.
