A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a case, a cap plate, and a terminal plate. The electrode assembly includes a separator between first and second plates. The case includes the electrode assembly and has an opening. The cap plate seals the opening of the case and has a hole. The terminal plate is on the cap plate and includes a discharge hole aligned with the hole in the cap plate. A short circuit area with a vent may be included in the hole of the cap plate.

Secondary battery

A battery pack including a plurality of battery cells aligned in a first column, a second column, and a third column; a bypass member, the bypass member including supporting surfaces that support the plurality of battery cells in the first and second columns, and forming a bypass flow path that bypasses the battery cells in the first and second columns; and compensation members, the compensation members including supporting surfaces that support the plurality of battery cells in the third column, wherein the supporting surfaces of the compensation members are substantially coplanar with the supporting surfaces of the bypass member.

Battery pack

A battery module according to aspects of the present invention includes a plurality of battery cells each having a terminal, a reflective portion on the terminal, and a bus-bar coupled to the terminal to electrically connect the plurality of battery cells. The bus-bar may have an opening exposing at least a portion of the reflective portion. The reflective portion may be configured to reflect laser incident thereon through the opening. A method of manufacturing the battery module may include placing a bus-bar electrically connecting terminals of a plurality of battery cells, each of the terminals having a reflective portion on a top surface thereof, and the bus-bar having an opening exposing at least a portion of the reflective portion, and welding the bus-bar and the terminal to each other. The task of welding the bus bar may include irradiating a laser through the opening in the bus-bar.
