A liquid crystal display device and a driving method of the liquid crystal display device includes a display panel including a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines crossing the gate lines, and a plurality of pixels coupled to the gate lines and the data lines, a gate driver configured to provide a gate signal to the pixels through the gate lines, a data driver configured to provide a data signal to the pixels through the data lines and a timing controller configured to receive an image data provided from an external device and generate control signals that control the gate driver and the data driver. The timing controller analyzes a pattern of the image data by every frame, and changes an inversion driving method and gamma voltages of the image data based on a pattern analyzing result from the analysis of the pattern of the image data.

A display device includes a pixel column including first to n-th pixels connected to a same data line and different gate lines from each other, a data driving chip which outputs a test data voltage in a test mode and outputs image data voltages in a normal mode, a sensing circuit which is electrically connected to the data line and the data driving chip in the test mode, senses a current output to the first pixel during a first period, and senses a current output to an i-th pixel during a second period, and a signal controller which compares a reference charge amount calculated based on the current sensed during the first period to a first charge amount calculated based on the current sensed during the second period and compensates for a level of an image data voltage applied to the i-th pixel among the image data voltages based on the compared result.

A display device includes a display panel, a plurality of sensors, a signal control unit, and a backlight unit. A plurality of dimming regions is defined in the display panel. The signal control unit determines a plurality of representative luminance values corresponding to the plurality of dimming regions based on image data signals received from an external device and illuminance values of an external light measured by the plurality of sensors. The backlight unit provides lights having the representative luminance values to the display panel.

The display panel includes a display area configured to display an image and a non-display area adjacent to one side of the display area. The display area includes oblique lines, intersectional lines crossing and isolated from at least a part of the oblique lines, and pixels. Pixels coupled to the oblique lines or the intersectional lines and arranged along a line in one direction are defined into pixel rows. The display area further includes a plurality of areas divided by the pixel rows being successive. The number of pixels constituting one of adjacent ones of the pixel rows in at least one of the plurality of areas is different from the number of pixels constituting another thereof.

A display device includes a first gate driver that applies a gate-on voltage to gate lines of a first gate line group in each period of n first scan periods for a first frame, n being a natural number.
