A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight unit providing light to the liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate on which a thin film transistor is disposed, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a first polarizer disposed on the second substrate having a plurality of metal patterns spaced apart from each other by an interval. The backlight unit faces the second substrate.

A display panel comprises a first substrate, a second substrate including a display area and a peripheral area surrounding the display area, a transistor layer including, formed in the display area of the substrate, at least one transistor connected to a gate line and a data line, at least one color filter formed in a plurality of pixel regions on the transistor layer, a light blocking member disposed between the color filters, at least one pixel electrode formed on the color filter, an opaque spacing part formed on the color filter corresponding to the transistor so as to maintain a cell gap between the first and second substrates. The light blocking member in some embodiments of the invention is not formed on the first and second transistors to allow for inspection of a channel in the transistor.

The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a sealant coupling the first substrate and the second substrate and enclosing the liquid crystal layer; a display signal line arranged on the first substrate and including an end portion; and a first spacer disposed between the end portion of the display signal line and the sealant. The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystal molecules exhibiting a pretilt alignment with respect to the first and second substrates.

A thin film transistor array panel includes: a substrate, a plurality of gate and data lines, a thin film transistor, a light blocking member, a color filter, and a pixel electrode. The substrate includes a display area having a plurality of pixels and a non-display area. The gate lines and data lines are formed on the substrate. The thin film transistor is connected to a respective gate line and data line of the plurality of gate and data lines. The light blocking member is formed on the non-display area, the gate line, the data line, and the thin film transistor. The color filter is formed on the light blocking member. The pixel electrode is formed on the color filter. The color filter covers the entire light blocking member of the non-display area.

Thin film transistor substrate and liquid crystal display including the same

Provided are a thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate which can facilitate the formation of contact holes and has improved reliability and a method of fabricating the TFT substrate. The TFT substrate includes a gate wiring formed on an insulating substrate; a data wiring defining a pixel region by intersecting the gate wiring, the data wiring including a source electrode and a drain electrode; a plurality of black matrix barrier ribs formed along the boundaries of the pixel region; a color filter formed to cover the pixel region; a pixel electrode formed on the color filter; and a plurality of contact holes formed through the color filter near the corners of the pixel region through which the pixel electrode and the drain electrode contact each other.

TFT substrate and method of fabricating the same

A method of manufacturing a thin film transistor array panel is provided, The method includes: forming a gate line on a substrate; forming a gate insulating layer on the gate line; forming a semiconductor layer on the gate insulating layer; forming a data line and a drain electrode on the semiconductor layer; depositing a passivation layer on the data line and the drain electrode; forming a photoresist including a first portion and a second portion thinner than the first portion on the passivation layer; etching the passivation layer using the photoresist as a mask to expose a portion of the drain electrode at least in part; removing the second portion of the photoresist; depositing a conductive film; and removing the photoresist to form a pixel electrode on the exposed portion of the drain electrode.
