Disclosed herein is a method of predicting engine knocking, which includes calculating initial pressure in cylinder based on operating data and pressure in intake manifold measured using manifold absolute pressure sensor, calculating pressure at spark timing in the cylinder by interpreting compression process as polytropic process based on the calculated initial pressure in the cylinder, calculating heat release rate for individual operating conditions based on the calculated pressure in the cylinder at spark timing, calculating pressure change in the cylinder based on the calculated heat release rate, calculating unburned gas temperature in adiabatic compression process based on the calculated pressure change in the cylinder, and determining whether knock occurs by calculating ignition delay based on the calculated unburned gas temperature and calculating unburned gas mass fraction at crank angle at the end of the ignition delay.

Method of predicting occurrence of engine knocking

A particulate matter sensor unit may include a sensor portion of an electrostatic induction type that may be reacted when a particulate matter having electric charge may be passing the vicinity thereof, a protection pad that the sensor portion may be bonded on one side thereof through a conductive paste, an heater electrode that may be formed on the protection pad and burns the particulate matters that may be disposed on the sensor portion to eliminate them, and a sensor electrode that may be formed on the protection pad to transfer a signal that may be generated by the sensor portion to an outside.

Particulate matter sensor unit

A particulate matter sensor unit including a sensor on one side of an exhaust line and configured to employ an electrostatic induction for generating electric charges by a particulate matter contained in an exhaust gas when the particulate matter passes the sensor. The sensor includes a body portion, an electrode portion formed in a front of the body portion on one side of the front and adjacent to the particulate matter, a heating portion in a rear of the body portion on one side of the rear corresponding to the electrode portion, a power input portion in the rear of the body portion on the other side of the rear and to supply a power to the heating portion, and connection lines to connect the power input portion to the heating portion, which use the supplied power to generate heat for burning and removing the particulate matter.

An accelerator sensor that is mounted on an engine block may be used to detect vibration of a compression ignition engine, and the detected vibration signal is analyzed to determine the combustion timing of the engine. A method for detecting combustion timing may include measuring a block vibration signal generated in a combustion process of an engine, setting up a frequency area that is to be analyzed in the block vibration to divide the frequency area into wavelet scales, executing continuous wavelet transformations of the divided wavelet scales to extract respective result values thereof and to calculate differences between former result values and latter result values, comparing the calculated difference value with a predetermined value to store crank angles of pertinent timing if the calculated difference values exceed the predetermined value, and averaging the stored crank angles to determine combustion timing in a case that all wavelet scales are processed.
