An image forming apparatus includes a process unit, a heating unit, and a controller unit. The process unit is configured to transfer an image onto a sheet. The heating unit is configured to fix the image transferred at the process unit onto the sheet, and to transfer a transfer layer onto an image formed on a sheet overlaid on a multilayer film. The controller unit is capable of operating in a first printing mode in which processes of transferring an image at the process unit, fixing the image at the heating unit, and transferring the transfer layer at the heating unit are executed, and a second printing mode in which processes of transferring an image at the process unit and fixing the image at the heating unit are not executed, and a process of transferring the transfer layer at the heating unit is executed.

Image forming apparatus

Disclosed is a layer transfer device which transfers a layer of a multilayer film onto a surface of a sheet. The layer transfer device includes a heating member including a first portion and a second portion, a first heater, a second heater, and a controller. The controller is configured to control the first heater with an input power set at a predetermined input power, control the second heater with an input power set at a first input power if both of the multilayer film and the sheet pass over a surface of the second portion, and control the second heater with an input power set at a second input power that is smaller than the first input power if at least one of the multilayer film and the sheet does not pass over the surface of the second portion.

Layer transfer device

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion configured to form an image on a recording sheet, a main body including a pair of frames and a bridging member connecting the pair of frames, a feed roller, a sheet receiving plate, and a lifting member. The sheet receiving plate is configured to receive the recording sheet, and pivot between a nearby position where the sheet receiving plate is disposed near the feed roller and a remote position where the sheet receiving plate is disposed remote from the feed roller. The lifting member is disposed opposite to the feed roller relative to the sheet receiving plate and configured to lift the sheet receiving plate such that the sheet receiving plate is disposed in the nearby position. The lifting member includes a pivot shaft rotatably supported by the bridging member and a lift portion configured to contact the sheet receiving plate.

An image forming apparatus, including a pair of resin-made main frames arranged to face each other along a first horizontal direction; a photosensitive member to carry an image in a developer agent thereon; an exposure device to expose the photosensitive member to light; a resin-made first auxiliary frame fixed to the main frames at one side along a second horizontal direction and configured to form a conveying path for the sheet; a second auxiliary frame to support the exposure device and fixed to the main frames at the other side along the second horizontal direction; and a swingable plate arranged in an intermediate position between the main frames with a lower surface thereof being exposed to outside, and swingably supported by lower end positions of the main frames on the other side along the second horizontal direction, is provided.
