In a transmission, an oil chamber is formed between one end of an input shaft and one end of an output shaft which ends are facing each other. A first oil guide is provided at the end of the input shaft such that the cylindrical portion of the first oil guide is positioned in a lubrication passage which is provided in the input shaft. In the same way, a second oil guide is provided a: the end of the output shaft such that the cylindrical portion is provided at the end of the output shaft such that the cylindrical portion of the second oil guide is positioned in a lubrication passage which is provided in the output shaft. In addition, the input shaft is provided with a release passage which opens to the outside of the input shaft while the output shaft is provided with a release passage which opens to the outside of the output shaft. With this arrangement, lubrication oil is supplied sufficiently to members such as bearings and gears which are disposed on these rotating shafts.

Transmission lubrication arrangement

A transmission case comprises first, second and third casings,and,, which are connected side by side in this order from an engine. An input shaft,and a countershaft,with speed change gear trains and clutches are disposed in a first room,which is defined by the first and second casings, and the both ends of these shafts,and,are supported rotatably in partition walls,and,which are provided with the first and second casings, respectively. In this condition, the side of the countershaft,which is located away from the engine extends into a second room,defined by the second and third casings, in which room, an output shaft,is disposed. In addition, a constant mesh type gear train is disposed in the second room,for power transmission between the countershaft,and the output shaft,. Furthermore, the end of the output shaft,which is located toward the engine is supported rotatably by the second casing while the end of the countershaft,and the side of the output shaft,which are located away from the engine are supported rotatably by the third casing.

Countershaft transmission

A filter apparatus includes a box-shaped casing formed by connecting peripheral edges of first and second casing members each having a concavity and a filter composed of first and second filter media placed one upon the other and having respective peripheries held between substantially the entire peripheral edges of the first and second casing members such that the filter assumes the shape of a bag when disposed in the casing. The casing has a suction port and an exhaust port each communicating between the interior and the exterior of the casing. The filter communicates with the exterior of the apparatus through the suction or exhaust port of the casing. The first and second filter media have respective through holes and are closely adhered together at peripheral portions of the respective through holes.

Filter apparatus having a casing with improved structure for holding

In a filter device suitable for use in an automotive automatic transmission system employing a fluid torque converter, two layers of filter sheets are interposed between upper and lower casing halves provided with an outlet and an inlet, respectively. The inlet is communicated with a filter chamber defined between the upper and lower filter sheets, and a communication passage is defined between an upper chamber and a lower chamber defined above and below the filter sheets inside the casing, respectively. A pair of flow paths are defined between the inlet and the outlet. The first of the flow paths passes the upper filter sheet and heads directly for the outlet. The second of the flow paths passes through the lower filter sheet, and passes through the communication passage before heading for the outlet. An obstruction is provided in the first flow path to the end of evenly or optimally distributing the flow of the working fluid between the two filter sheets. Creation of high flow speed regions near the inlet and the outlet can be avoided even when the inlet and outlet are placed close to each other. Thus, the entire surface area of the filter element can be effectively utilized so that the filtering efficiency can be improved, and the pressure drop across the filter device can be reduced.
