Systems, methods, and display apparatuses consistent with the invention may generate control signals to control n light-passing devices such that the n light-passing devices each are sequentially operated between ON and OFF states, and such that each of the n light-passing devices are in the ON state no less than 1/n of the viewing period. This may allow different images to be viewed through different light-passing devices. The embodiments may be used, for example, to present a three-dimensional image to a viewer or to present different videos to different viewers.

The present invention is directed to provide a driving circuit and driving method for a LCD having high performance of moving image displaying within few amount of memory and downscaled circuit. In the present invention, a voltage applied to a pixel to drive liquid crystal material in the pixel is determined as a voltage with which the transparency of the pixel at the end of the current field becomes the designated transparency. To determine the voltage, a data table for quick response in which output data is stored in correspondence with some of the possible value of a preceding field image data and some of the possible value of the current field image data is employed, and the output data corresponding to the preceding field image data and the current field image data is determined by the data table through linear interpolation. The voltage corresponding to the output data is applied to the pixel.

The front light includes a main optical guide plate and a second optical guide plate. A backlight provides uniform emanating light for a liquid crystal display. In the backlight, light emitted from a light source is incident on a receiving end surface of a light guide plate and emanates through a top surface toward a liquid crystal panel. A bottom surface includes a reflecting hollow wedge extending along the receiving end surface and varying in depth, as measured from the bottom surface, in correspondence with distance from the end surface. Backlight for liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display includes: a scattering-polarizer provided between a liquid crystal and a back light for transmitting a polarization component in one direction of light from back light, but scattering and reflecting a polarization component in a direction which is orthogonal thereto: and a scattered light reflector reflecting the reflected and scattered light toward scattering-polarizer along with the polarization component in above mentioned one direction. Thus, a liquid crystal display which is inexpensive and has high display quality with reduced power consumption is obtained.
