A device may include a driver integrated circuit (IC) comprising a first control unit and a second control unit, a first solenoid that is electrically coupled to the first control unit, a second solenoid that is electrically coupled to the second control unit; at least one sensor, a clock that synchronizes a microcontroller and the driver IC, and a peripheral bus that communicatively couples the first control unit, the second control unit. The microcontroller and the driver IC form an outer control loop that actuates the first solenoid and the second solenoid, and the first control unit, the second control unit, and the at least one sensor form an inner control loop that controls the first solenoid and the second solenoid.

Universal solenoid driver

In one embodiment, a circuit can selectively adjust a current for driving a load. The circuit includes a sensor configured to measure a magnetic field associated with the current and provide a sensor voltage representative thereof. A control circuit is configured to selectively adjust the current as a function of the sensor voltage and a time-varying voltage threshold. Other methods and systems are also disclosed.

Methods and systems for driving a load

One embodiment relates to a control system. In one embodiment, a control system is configured to drive a load based on a set-point of the load, a measured load characteristic and a supply voltage of the load. The controller is configured to determine a duty cycle based on the load characteristic, the set-point, and the supply voltage. The controller is further configured to drive the load in response to the duty cycle.

Control system

One embodiment relates to a control system. The control system includes a controller configured to drive a load based on a set-point of the load. The controller is also configured to measure a load characteristic of the load and compute an average load characteristic. The controller is further configured to determine a corrected set-point based on the computed average and to drive the load in response to the corrected set-point. Other systems and methods are also disclosed.

Method for controlling current in a load

A first and second node configured to couple to a load. A current source is adapted to drive a first current to the load through at least one of the first and second nodes. A first switch is coupled to the at least one of the first and second nodes. The first switch is adapted to interrupt the first current. A sense circuit is configured to monitor whether a second current is provided by the load after the first current is interrupted. The sense circuit provides an output that corresponds to a value of the second current and that indicates a type of the load.

Sensor discrimination apparatus, system, and method

One embodiment includes an apparatus comprising a closed loop feedback controller and a power output stage to couple to the closed loop feedback controller. The closed loop feedback controller and the power output stage are combined to form a single element.
